Same.Pretty uninspiring.
This is true, although if we're more or less the same team as last year we only need marginal offensive improvement to be a top (or the top) contender in the NFC.All in all, you can just look at the staff changes and they are not insightful. It is basically running it back with the lower level coffee fetchers being promoted mainly because they are cheap and willing to do what may become a one year job if things go south.
That is a big risk with one of the youngest rosters in the league.
Apparently we also had a pretty large staff on the whole, where they want to pare back in places. Staff in the mid to upper 20’s in headcount. This is true, although if we're more or less the same team as last year we only need marginal offensive improvement to be a top (or the top) contender in the NFC.
Not sure I'd be blase about this. Of all the major sports, coaching has the most impact in football. In '95, we had a battle-tested veteran team that could overcome a non-entity like Switzer. We don't have the same personnel today. This is true, although if we're more or less the same team as last year we only need marginal offensive improvement to be a top (or the top) contender in the NFC.
Yep, and that might come from one good WR and a RB who can run for more than a max of four yards anymore. This is true, although if we're more or less the same team as last year we only need marginal offensive improvement to be a top (or the top) contender in the NFC.
We lost a couple of position coaches whose contracts ran out that we didn't try to retain, along with an OC/play-caller that everybody at least disliked or outright hated, it's not that big a deal. Not sure I'd be blase about this. The promotions are not inspiring but I also recognize that sometimes guys earn those promotions. That's how some guys at least break into the coaching ranks. My hope is that is the case here and they aren't just being cheap. I don't care much about RBs coach. But QB coach and things like that are pretty important positions. We lost a couple of position coaches whose contracts ran out that we didn't try to retain, along with an OC/play-caller that everybody at least disliked or outright hated, it's not that big a deal.
I'm supposed to be worried over losing Skip Peete and Leon Lett?
They could've done better replacing them obviously but it's not like they were big losses in the first place. Edwards was the only one who was somewhat of a surprise.
Yea, pretty surprising they didn't bring McAdoo back as QB coach. The promotions are not inspiring but I also recognize that sometimes guys earn those promotions. There's some here on Schottenheimer... sounds like he might be the quasi-QB coach himself. The promotions are not inspiring but I also recognize that sometimes guys earn those promotions. We haven’t had the personnel in close to 30 years. Not sure I'd be blase about this. Of all the major sports, coaching has the most impact in football. In '95, we had a battle-tested veteran team that could overcome a non-entity like Switzer. We don't have the same personnel today.
Has he landed? We lost a couple of position coaches whose contracts ran out that we didn't try to retain, along with an OC/play-caller that everybody at least disliked or outright hated, it's not that big a deal.

Every time I hear him called Shotty, I think shawty. Cause, that's what it sounds like and stuff. There's some here on Schottenheimer... sounds like he might be the quasi-QB coach himself.
Also, I think even if a coach is slightly "lesser" of a coach, it's more important that the staff is all on the same page.

We shall all sip bacardi when it's his birthday, because I dgaf.Every time I hear him called Shotty, I think shawty. Cause, that's what it sounds like and stuff.
I agree with that. You could have an all star coaching staff but if they are not on the same page or have guys wanting to do different things you end up with a worse end result. People can make fun all they want but your position coaches need to know what the coordinator wants and needs from each position and to execute that. The guys who were promoted or hired presumably know McCarthy and the types of plays he wants to run well. So they can coach their positions specific to that offense. Ultimately there is no question now we have one guy leading the ship on offense and one guy leading the ship on defense. If those are the right guys everything else will fall into place. I think most of us agree that Quinn is the right guy on defense. Now McCarthy is that one guy on offense that is going to lead things. No power struggle or mismatched ideas. The offense will be what McCarthy wants and the defense will be what Quinn wants. There's some here on Schottenheimer... sounds like he might be the quasi-QB coach himself.

I actually really appreciate this.
