Take out the three pass attempts (all incompletions) from the first two drives and Dak Prescott was 25/30, 305 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT rest of the way.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but Mike McCarthy is pretty damn good football coach.
Even if we don’t go all the way this year you don’t replace him. The defense is finally good and I would like to see what Mike could do with his version of the offense. What he did with the backup QB and offensive line means something. If we don’t make it next week you draft another stud Oline and come back next year mauling everyone. The only reason we are in this boat is because Jerry screwed the WR room.

We'll see how he does against a team that isn't the shittiest to make the playoffs in quite some time next week.
I don't think that takes anything away from what he's accomplished.

He's won double digit games in consecutive years and has taken us to the playoffs in consecutive seasons under the Jones family leadership -- that makes him the ONLY Cowboys head coach to do that since the 90s.

He just led the team to their first playoff road win since January of 93.

If you're not sold on Mike McCarthy after all that, then you haven't been paying attention to what's been going on in Dallas for the last 25+ years.

Eh, there have been some pretty shitty playoff teams. The Bucs weren't good but the Eagles were a shit playoff team last year for example.

If we beat the Niners next week, I'll be kissing McCarthy's fat ass. But until then, he hasn't accomplished shit. Even Garrett got Dallas out of the wildcard weekend.

You can't just look at how far we went in the playoffs, it's the fact that we went to the playoffs back to back for the first time in 15 years, the fact that we went back to back double digit wins for the first time in almost 30 years, and of course the first road playoff win in 30 years.

It took Garrett 4 years to get a playoff win after three straight 8-8 seasons and every time we went to the playoffs under him we folded the next season.

McCarthy had a throwaway year in 2020 due to the Dak injury and then did something the next two years that hadn't been done in 15 and 25+ years respectively.

He had to win tonight to validate a lot of that in my opinion but now that he has, he's at the very least deserving of some more respect and seeing out his contract unless we completely go in the tank next year and go like 6-11 or something without any major injuries to Dak.

While any victory feels good, you have to feel especially good for Dak Prescott to have an indisputably awesome playoff game, indisputable because he went 30+ attempts, +300 yards and no turnovers. Similar to Romo getting that Lions comeback win to somewhat answer the choker stigma

Random Thoughts:

-This was the best playoff performance we've seen out of a QB since Aikman in probably the 1994 NFCC at San Francisco. Definitely better than any of Romo's playoff games, do with that what you will.
-Excellent adjustment to get Mukuamu on the field in the slot instead of forcing a guy like Rhodes out there too much. Similar to "getting your best 5" on the OL, they just went with their best 6 DB's and lived with it.
-Loved the play-action on 4th and goal on the 1 after slamming Elliott up the gut, every defense is going to key in on Elliott in short-yardage and goal-line given how often we go to it.
-The pass rush set the tempo early making Brady uncomfortable and jittery in the pocket. The stats aren't gaudy but they really set the tone and once we got a lead they just continued to constrict.
-I've been saying it for a while now but LVE needs to be a priority to re-sign, he's the only somewhat well-rounded LB on the team and apparently is the only one who can actually organize the defensive calls.
-Hilton is so much better than Brown who is just so physically limited. Hilton didn't have gaudy stats but he came up with a few clutch catches to keep the chains moving and looks like a guy we should consider bringing back next year.
-Really solid all-around game by the primary DT's in Odighizuwa, Hankins and Watkins. I wish we had a real difference maker there but for now they're going to have to continue with that sort of performance if we have any chance of winning next week.
-If they don't re-sign Pollard while slashing Elliott's salary or cutting him, they're drunk.

McCarthy is definitely a drastically better coach than Garrett, there's no denying that.

Golston showed up, too. I didn't miss Gallimore in the slightest even in a game that favored him as they only attempted 12 runs or whatever it was.

Yep, big time game. Hope he keeps it up. If he plays like that every week this team has a legit shot at a Superbowl. But that's a tough thing to do.
