It's not a blessing but getting an idea on the extent to which we can or can't count on him as our future LT is a good thing given the circumstances.

Yeah but I don't know that trial by fire is always the best way to find out. It's not exactly like QB but I certainly think ramping the guy up to be an NFL LT has it's benefits the same way that not throwing a rookie QB out there week one has it's benefits.

This is a guy with a penalty problem who came from a small school. I certainly would have liked to see us be able to work on his form at LG as he built confidence as opposed to throwing him right out there to LT and seeing how he deals with it.

He's had problems in his college and preseason career at a simpler position in OG, he's in no way ready to face full-speed NFL pass rushers, NFL refs are clearly keyed in on it, and this is the most visible team in the league with a reputation for getting refs facetime.

The number might be incalculable if we don't bring in Peters.
