Russia isn't "communist", economies like theirs and China are kind of a new mix that don't fall neatly into terms like traditional 1960s-style "communism". They're dictatorships with companies that are ran by cronies/friends of the dictator, but not fully nationalized and ran by a central committee.
It's kind of a decentralized communism but with a more modern approach to competing in global markets.
