The defense this year has been all about impact. It's amazing how he took this group of losers, added by subtracting #9, implemented an all-timer of a gift in the 1st round, and a hodgepodge of free agency safety signings, and turned them into the most entertaining and opportuniatic defense we've seen in maybe forever.
**edited to add that we've also seen tremendous growth from several defensive rookies

Remember, last season = worst defense in team history

I would approve making him highest paid DC for 2 years and not give a bit of a shit about it.

For sheik, we’ll need a Travel Thread with daily updates. 13:1 odds he doesn’t make it to OK
The reverse Oregon Trail.

Watch out for that dysentery, Sheik.

For sure, although I don't think we can give him 100% of the credit for the turnover emphasis/production.

Quinn himself has said a few times how the emphasis on the ball/ball skills comes from McCarthy, and the turnover production actually started over the back half of last year. I'm not sure what the exact numbers are but I'd guess that we averaged somewhere around 2 takeaways over the last half of last season, which is about what we've averaged this year.

Quinn has certainly done an amazing job but he doesn't deserve all the credit.

I thought one of the better little stories to come out this year was how when McCarthy got here, he upped the number of Juggs guns from 2 to 9 (IIRC, something like that) and made the defensive players work on them as much as the offensive players.

I'm giving Quinn all the credit he deserves, but I'm a fan of McCarthy as well.

He seems to have them primed and focused on postseason success.

I'm ready to be entertained.

Yea, my point is that the turnovers aren't all Quinn given the production over the 2nd half of last season. But Quinn has obviously been the driving force in general behind the defensive resurgence.

Totally. I may be eating my words Sunday night, but I feel good that McCarthy has been here many times before and knows what playoff preparation is all about.

Preparation isn't accidental, and he's been very deliberate in his message about postseason longevity.

Quinn has his unit following Big Mike's lead.

Hopefully the offense is on an upward trend.

Jayron is back from the Covid list, sure gonna need him against Kittle.

Here's a clip from an interview back in Week 2, check out starting at 10:20 until about 13:00.

I keep forgetting that he's the Freak's nephew. Best safety signing in some years.
