WTF are you people talking about this Jarwin nonsense? DO some of you even watch the games.I’d rather Cooper Lamb Gallup Jarwin but I suspect we can have Schultz too.

Jarwin is a trick play guy. They try to squeeze snaps in here and there, but he is buried in terms of the overall gameplan.WTF are you people talking about this Jarwin nonsense? DO some of you even watch the games.

I think there should be a discount, say 15%, awarded to the team that drafted the player when it comes to the actual contract vs money counting against the cap. Should be a reward for draftingI’m beginning to hate the hard cap.
They should transition to a soft cap.
Reduced to gadget status.Jarwin is a trick play guy. They try to squeeze snaps in here and there, but he is buried in terms of the overall gameplan.
I still don't get why they were so eager to lock him up early. What kind of hippy voodoo shit did he pull?
I don't think anyone is saying Jarwin is better than Schultz. Just that they feel better with Jarwin starting than whoever we would have at RE without Gregory.WTF are you people talking about this Jarwin nonsense? DO some of you even watch the games.

This is my point. Fuck Jarwin. You keep Dalton at all costs. And keeping Jarwin is stupid. My god. Do not do this, DCC. You hang on to your star TE even if it means getting rid of Gallup. But, I don't think we will have to do either.I don't think anyone is saying Jarwin is better than Schultz. Just that they feel better with Jarwin starting than whoever we would have at RE without Gregory.
Most of us would love both back. And frankly it can be figured out. Restructure, cut Jarwin and Anthony Brown and you've got plenty of money suddenly. Hell I guarantee Martin gets restructured. He make more next year than he does in the following 2 years of his contract.
I hope this post comes to fruition because Schultz is becoming the hardcore-only Cowboys fan favorite, kinda like Tony Tolbert or K-Mart.I don't think anyone is saying Jarwin is better than Schultz. Just that they feel better with Jarwin starting than whoever we would have at RE without Gregory.

I mean I’d rather keep Gallup than Schultz, not that I’d rather Jarwin than Schultz. Just that if I have to lose one of Gallup or Schultz, I keep Gallup and by extension Jarwin gets the spot.WTF are you people talking about this Jarwin nonsense? DO some of you even watch the games.

I don't agree, I think the dropoff from Schultz to Jarwin is bigger than the one from Gallup to WilsonI mean I’d rather keep Gallup than Schultz, not that I’d rather Jarwin than Schultz. Just that if I have to lose one of Gallup or Schultz, I keep Gallup and by extension Jarwin gets the spot.
But again I think we can get both.
Shultz seems to come up with clutch catches, and seems to be open when you need him to be. I don’t buy it’s all scheme, and with that I keep him over Jarwin.I don't hate Jarwin, but he doesn't fit this offense as well as he once did. A few years ago, with high confidence in the OL, the coaches and front office were open to trading some physicality at TE for a TE who could stretch the field more. It wasn't a crazy idea. Dak and Jarwin had a good thing developing.
But then you lose your starting OTs, sometimes just one, often times both, and this at the same time that you don't feel great about LG and C. In that context, it doesn't makes sense to play a mediocre blocker at TE because he's above average at going deep. It's a luxury the team can't afford. Most teams can't.
Schultz fits the current offense better than Jarwin. Schultz is performing very well, but I don't think he's a special talent or would be so difficult to replace. Jarwin isn't the right replacement, though. You need a well-rounded, versatile guy who can block and who can catch. The replacement doesn't have to be spectacular to be very successful in this offense.
To me, the more interesting question is the trade off between Gallup and Wilson. Both fit this offense, but they have different strengths. In the playoffs, with the game on the line, who do you need more?
I dont think Gregory shoots the moon, he's too grateful to Jer for the many opportunities given when weed was outlawed. Gregory is 28 and in prime form, the perfect complement to DLaw and his fat contract. DLaw, Gregory and Parsons coming for your QB, just wow.Sorry I don’t break the bank on Gregory. Age and the weed situation would seem to be the issue with any type of contract structure IMO. If Dallas can structure around those 2 issues then yeah sign him. But we know the Jer.…it’s probably going to be something stupid like Jaylon or Zeke.
In a lot of ways Schultz reminds me of young Witten. He doesn't blow you away with his speed and athletic ability but every time you look up he is catching a first down or making a play. He also blocks well and is the complete package.Shultz seems to come up with clutch catches, and seems to be open when you need him to be. I don’t buy it’s all scheme, and with that I keep him over Jarwin.
All the weed, suspensions and that stuff aside, I may prefer Gregory to Lawrence at this point on pure talent...I dont think Gregory shoots the moon, he's too grateful to Jer for the many opportunities given when weed was outlawed. Dak has more of a good thing with Schultz right now - by far - than he ever had with Jarwin.Dak and Jarwin had a good thing developing.
Then you are in the same situation as you are now. Keep them both and look for Lawrence replacement. All the weed, suspensions and that stuff aside, I may prefer Gregory to Lawrence at this point on pure talent...
This. I can’t recall when Lawrence was last paired with a competent wingman. Then you are in the same situation as you are now. Keep them both and look for Lawrence replacement.
Yeah you can't cut Lawrence with his contract anyway. Just thinking out loud. But yeah it's probably time to start looking for his replacement unless Golston develops into it. Nothing against Lawrence I still like him and want him opposite Gregory. But his cap figures for the next few years are pretty ugly. 27 mil next season I think? After that is the year to cut him when you can save 18 mil on the cap. Then you are in the same situation as you are now. Keep them both and look for Lawrence replacement.
