So we lost, we should have won and I honestly don't feel bad about it at all. First game back for Dak and I saw no rust. And let's face it, if the defense plays this well all year we are going to the playoffs. Hard to feel bad about that.

Sucks to lose but we beat most NFL teams with that performance. This game gave me hope that we can not only make the playoffs but make some noise. This defense is only going to get better. They played a really excellent Bucs offense and held their own.

Now Brown, our kicker and our run game still need work but we were without Zack Martin going against a stellar run defense. Clearly we knew McGovern is a good pass blocker but he is no Martin in the run game. Legotron I have no idea what got into him but hoping that was just awful rust. He cost us the game.
Yeah, we came out in mid-season form in the season opener. We probably beat 28 teams. Unfortunately, we came out against a Super Bowl winner that returned 22 of 22 starters

Press Conference and I'm asking McCarthy what role did your analytics play in tonight's playcalling?

We had almost no pressure all night… 0 sacks, just not cutting it.
Welcome to playing Tom Brady. The guy never holds the ball. He makes quick and intelligent decisions. When we did get pressure we forced him into some dumb throws but that's really hard to do against Brady.

Speaking of pressure. The Bucs are great at it and I thought our protection was pretty stellar.

Yep all very true. Good news is it's a 17 game season and we play in the worst division in the NFL. I feel good about this team going forward. The defense will only get better and that was a rusty Dak without his best Olineman. Let that sink in.

I'm a bit disappointed in 88. He's got to cut down on his negative plays.

Dak was outstanding. And no fumbles.

Excellent game plan.

Looking forward to seeing what this defense becomes.

Sucks to lose that, but that's about the closest you'll ever get me to label something an acceptable loss.

On the road against the defending champs and we went toe to toe with them.

We forced turnovers.

Dak finally got the team in position to win a game with his final possession (that's huge for me).

And so much for Amari Cooper isn't the same on the road huh?

Overall, it's encouraging.

The defense is still weak in the areas that we expected it to be, but we can't do anything about that this year. But getting turnovers is very encouraging and Dak was fantastic.

They'll win 10 or 11 games playing like this and get to the 2nd round. Then hopefully they add some secondary and interior D-line help next spring.

I'm still annoyed at the loss due to Zuerlein's misses and a blatantly obvious OPI that the ref decided he would just let go, but this was a very good and encouraging start to the season.

On to week 2.

We literally were one actual fucking penalty away from beating the best team in the NFL in their home. A million miles away? You're being ridiculous.
It’s the same shit again and again. We are always a cunt hair away but the same stupid shit costs us every year, and the refs always find a way to implement the rules against us. It’s no different than any other of our “up,” years.

I’m sure we will win this shitty Division and continue to bumble fuck our way to bring outclassed in the playoffs again. Oh and along the way the league will say that Cooper’s apparent game winning TD catch is not a catch because of some bullshit they will make up, his socks were not tucked into his pants the right way, no TD.

This is true except one thing, the run defense. It was way better. 3.7 YPC for the Bucs. Total of 52 yards rushing. We actually created turnovers.

Those are big improvements over last year for a defense that has lots of new starters. They will get better as these guys gel. I just hope Bossman steps it up because he couldn't be worse than Brown.

Kellen Moore's best game as OC?
I liked his game plan although I think they should have ran more. Especially at the end after the field goal to give Brady the time to go down the field. They should have taken time off with some runs. Other then that I was impressed with the plays

Oh, and they need to Issac Holt Anthony Brown's ass.

The same way Jimmy recognized he was a liability and even a young guy behind him would be better, McCarthy needs to do the same.

The guy can't play. Period.

Lol I'd say we absolutely deserved to win. But one loss won't define the season. I was impressed by our team. They will only get better.

I was worried about Dak. I shouldn't have been.

Lot to be encouraged by. I told a coworker I'd be ecstatic if we kept it within 10. Just hope we don't come out flat next week against the Chargers. That's a winnable game.

I agree about the penalties. Seems like every playoffs game comes down to a play or two and are ultimately decided by the refs. If those calls always go one way it makes it impossible in the playoffs. And let's face it, those calls always go in favor of Tom Brady for whatever reason. He is an amazing QB but somehow the guy always gets the calls.

Right.

I don't think it was bad a idea to lean to the pass against that front 7, but you can't completely ignore the run for long stretches like that.

We were going 3 drives straight without a single run called and that cannot happen.

Drunkin one thought: Lamb needs to get his shit straight.
He did have 7 catches for over 100 yards and a TD, but yeah he had a couple key mistakes. Not a shocker because this team never plays a clean game.

Yeah I get why we went pass happy against that defense with no Zach Martin. But there are still situations to run the ball. Would have helped a lot in the redzone too.

But it was a pretty stellar offensive game for the most part.

Plus, how many rushing yards did we have? This was Dak.
