I preferred Surtain because I think he's safe and high ceiling at the same time, but Parsons has the highest ceiling of any defensive player in the draft.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if he turned into a healthy Jaylon, basically a dumb dog chasing cars with no thought behind it. I also wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being a Devin White-type blitzing terror.

The reality is probably somewhere in the middle but the explosiveness he brings at LB is beyond anything we've ever had.
I think his ceiling is higher than White. But I also think his floor is bad. Like suspended for shoving his dick in someone's face bad.

I would have taken Surtain over him. High ceiling but high floor. Still I can't hate on a physical freak talent who dominated on the field. Physical freak whose production matched the talent. Can't complain with that. But there is risk.

Well fuck you for liking the Parsons pick.

But at least you have been consistent about it.
Mofo, there have been a lot of folks who have consistently shipped Parson over the goddamned corners. I don't know who you've been listening to besides mock nation

I would've taken Slater but I'm happy with Parsons. I'm worried about who he's going to look towards as a mentor/veteran voice and the impact Jaylon could have on him, but aside from that I think he'll be really good.

Plus Jaylon might be gone in 12 months so that'd be swell.

It's up to the coaches to maximize what he does well, particularly his ability to blitz.
I was never in love with Slater but he would have been a solid safe pick for sure. I don't think the guy outright busts. Worst case is he is just a really solid athletic Olineman. Upside is a really good LT. He just doesn't physically look like your typical LT.

been trying to tell you this corner whore stupidity is mostly bluster. every year people gnash their teeth and wail over how we're gonna yet again burn a first rounder on a corner. and more often than not... we don't.
You are so right.

I've feared for no reason.

But if one of those guys had gotten past Denver/Carolina I think we'd be singing a different tune

For me it was Sewell, Parsons, Pitts.

I'm so god damned happy we got Parsons AND an extra 3rd round pick on top of it.

Amazing

Absolutely, with 4 picks on day two we have a chance to really nail this thing. But we can't fuck around and waste picks. We need a DT, corner and safety pretty desperately with 3 of those picks.

If we hit 2 of those positions with guys I like I'll be very happy. Asking for all 3 with good players is probably asking too much.

McCarthy: #1 priority is turnover differential. Parsons is an impact player. He plays the way we want to play defense
K.

So which LB are you benching the majority of the time?

If Vander Esch is done...cool.

Yeah but that tells you it wasn't really corner at all costs otherwise we would have just taken the next best corner.
Thank God for that. There is hope after all, proven tonight.

Best player won out in the end, thanks to Denver and Carolina.

So easy to get caught in the trap of seeing the CB as the last line of defense, in some ways like a goalie.

Analogy is broken. CB only covers a quarter of the field at best, unlike a goalie which covers 100%.

But people still hold that view, that the CB makes up for "all the stuff" that went wrong in the front seven-nine.

Fucking lie that incompetent media folks buy into.

They should've already traded up for Moehrig by now.
I really like Holland. So I'm ok getting one of those two guys and waiting to trade up until one goes. But if Moehrig is your top safety by a significant margin I think you should go get him. He shouldn't still be available.

For me personally, Barmore, Moehrig, Holland and Asante Samuel. Give me one of those guys in the second round and I'm excited. So I'm not ready to trade up for shit yet.

Trade up for Moehrig with one of our 3rd's, take Alim McNeill and Paulson Adebo with the other two.

This was the first mock draft I done this year, on the 10th of January.

No trades.

10: R1 P10 LB Micah Parsons - Penn State
42: R2 P10 DL Marvin Wilson - Florida State
74: R3 P10 S Trevon Moehrig - TCU
98: R3 P34 OT Liam Eichenberg - Notre Dame
112: R4 P10 DL Tyler Shelvin - LSU
136: R4 P34 RB Zamir White - Georgia
148: R5 P7 CB Thomas Graham Jr. - Oregon
176: R5 P35 LB Jabril Cox - LSU
217: R6 P38 LB Shaka Toney - Penn State
232: R7 P10 CB Jordyn Peters - Auburn

Think we can get Moehrig in the 3rd and Cox in the 5th?

Why do you care, so long as the highest quality and most impactful players have been recognized and are playing?

If LVE and Smith each have miraculous resurgences, then you find a way to play all three.

Like McCarthy has promised, vs what Marinelli always dictated

we'll never actually know. according to both jerry and fat mike, we had parsons higher on the board and were eyeballing him from the start. were planning to just take him at ten, but with the way the board fell, a small trade down presented itself.
