I don't hate Horn, but 10 is a bit rich for a guy as grabby as he is.
Watch these dumb fucks take Horn over Surtain because the coaches fell in love with how much of a "dog" he is.
I'm sure he'll be a fine CB, maybe make a Pro Bowl or two, but he's a bit of a reach at 10 and certainly if it's over Surtain.I don't hate Horn, but 10 is a bit rich for a guy as grabby as he is.
It also would signal that again, we allow the coaches too much say since supposedly Quinn likes Horn a lot.I'm sure he'll be a fine CB, maybe make a Pro Bowl or two, but he's a bit of a reach at 10 and certainly if it's over Surtain.
It feels like we'd be reaching for a guy who is really at the top of the next tier of prospects down because he's mouthy on the field and McCarthy coached his dad.
Yeah I mean I like Horn. I don't like him as much as Surtain. But I don't think he would be a bad pick necessarily. I definitely think he is a top 20 pick in this draft. But I don't think he is a top 10 player in this draft. So yeah, somewhere in the 15 range I'd be thrilled getting Horn but at 10 I'd feel like we reached a bit for need. In the end maybe those 5 picks don't matter if you're getting a long term good starting corner. But it feels like I'm losing a little value there.I'm sure he'll be a fine CB, maybe make a Pro Bowl or two, but he's a bit of a reach at 10 and certainly if it's over Surtain.

Yeah I hate coaches thinking that they know this shit. It's not like Horn is a better fit for our scheme or anything either. Both guys have similar traits, it's just a question of which guy is a better player. If the scouts say that Surtain is better, no coach should be stepping in and saying otherwise. That's how you end up with a fucking Taco over a Watt. Of course that was more of a "fit" argument since they were supposedly different skill sets. Although I think Watt can do everything better than Taco.It also would signal that again, we allow the coaches too much say since supposedly Quinn likes Horn a lot.
If they take him over Surtain I honestly believe it's because McCarthy coached his dad. If Surtain is gone, fine, I still won't like it but at least you aren't taking him over someone else at the same position who's objectively better in just about every way aside from how they tested at their Pro Days.Yeah I hate coaches thinking that they know this shit. Not only that but the prodays were pretty damn close. I think there is plenty of margin of error in the proday results this year so I don't even think that matters much.If they take him over Surtain I honestly believe it's because McCarthy coached his dad. It was the Hill pick.It was from the Joey Ivie pick...or maybe Jordan Carrell. Can't think which schlub he was on about.

I don’t know... Pretty hard to beat that taco building sack dance.Although I think Watt can do everything better than Taco.
CeeDee torched LSU's Derek Stingley Jr as well. Stingley's probably going to be a top 5 pick in the 2022 draft.
And Patrick Surtain is going to help us stop the run because...And it’s even easier to keep all of them off the field when you have a defense that can't stop the run.
Neither are so much better than the next tier of CBs that they are worth taking 10th overall.I'm sure he'll be a fine CB, maybe make a Pro Bowl or two, but he's a bit of a reach at 10 and certainly if it's over Surtain.

I never said that he would. And, most people on this board know that I hate DBs, and I feel that they’re the most overrated positions of the 22.And Patrick Surtain is going to help us stop the run because...
Much more than Pitts would. And Patrick Surtain is going to help us stop the run because...
Here's what you are missing with this reasoning you keep bringing up.Neither are so much better than the next tier of CBs that they are worth taking 10th overall.
You, my friend, have just won the internet. Here's what you are missing with this reasoning you keep bringing up.
You say Surtain/Horn aren't all that much better than the next tier that you could draft in round 2.
But whether that's true or not is irrelevant.
Because if we're taking a CB in round two, that means we're NOT taking a DT/LB/S/DE.
Our pick at 10 doesn't have a worthy DT/LB/S/DE but it does have a worthy CB.
So would you rather come away from our first two picks with TWO defenders, including potentially a front 7 guy?
Or ONE defender, a second round corner?
We desperately need defense.
