How can that be? His first wife died while he was in office and he
remarried while still president. He fathered a child while in his fifties
and that son fathered a son at the age of 75. That grandson is still alive

I think he is dead on. No one should rely on someone else to save them. I just spent 48 hours getting my water back on and I finally made it happen. And, the electricity part, I have a generator with 7 propane bottles to fuel it on stand by. You take care of yourself. Stop fucking relying on the government/companies to bail you out. There may come a time where you have neither. I am a huge fan of self-preservation.

Unfortunately, folks want him burned at the proverbial stake and his wife has apparently been fired over his words (but I might be wrong on this and fallen for some internet BS).

Its such an odd take to me to look to the gov or some politician when the trials and tribulations of life kick in. I could understand people being upset if the utility companies who get paid to provide electrical service had his attitude but aside from that, I extend grace because shit happens man.

Perfection is not an option and fortunately its extremely rare to have issues with electricity so on the occasions they do, I'm more than willing to give them a break (plus like you, I have a generator so its sweet to be able to walk outside and fire that thing up when needed, I always wonder what my neighbors think when I keep right on trucking while everything else is blacked out).

Yeah, he probably worded it too harshly for today's society and may not have expressed himself the best way, but he's basically right. To me, he was just saying that there will be tough times and unforeseen events bigger than what the government can handle, and people should expect it and be ready to take care of themselves. And that's correct.

The Musers were giving him hell about it this morning. Reading what he actually said, I understand what he meant. It's not really as bad as the way they were making it out to be.

thats not what I get, I'm sure there are politicians that feel this way but what I encounter is a bunch of bleeding hearts like my girlfriend that think they're doing good by empowering the government to take care of all these so called helpless people that are freezing and need to have housing provided to them by the government which in turn attracts people to get free housing from the government.

If everyone fiercely pursued self reliance so those who couldn't would be far fewer in number & be helped by a highly efficient apparatus set up to help those truly in need. I think most everyone would be on board this scenario

The problem I see is government is horrible at solving these difficult issues and they end up building homeless "shelters" more expensive then houses working stiffs have to pay for and then find out the homeless don't even want to live in them

I've said this for years. They cause the vast majority of their fires by an extreme lack of preventive maintenance. It's retarded, but they absolutely do it to themselves.
