That's still an arbitrary stance, how about he say something about the BLM protests or Walmart or the airlines operating as normal??? Bottom line is this shit is killing small businesses and moving the profits to mega corporations and how dare he tell the small restaurant they have to close while McDonalds is free to do what they want

All for a virus with a 99.9999 chance of survival
Yeah its a complete absurdity. This much reaction is simply inapproiate. It almost like the nation is at war. When is there a war that has almost a 100 % chance of not even being wounded.

it was short interview done by CNN, I wouldn't expect them to discuss the hypocrisy of the protests or blame Gates because he didn't exhaust the discussion of every issue related to covid in such a short time frame. His larger point was that its going to take a while to get back to normal and I think that's a fair assessment regardless of whether we lock down or proceed with reckless abandonment

Bottom line is this shit is killing small businesses and moving the profits to mega corporations and how dare he tell the small restaurant they have to close while McDonalds is free to do what they want
I agree with the concerns for small businesses and restaurants and think we need creative solutions to help these businesses make it. I wasn't aware that Gates is responsible for shutting down the restaurants & bars

I've seen no evidence to support this assertion and it appears the fatality rate is much higher than .0001% but if you have a source that shows the survival rate is as high as you say, then please post it here so I can spread the word

The solution is to let these people open the fuck up, there is zero fucking reason why grocery stores, costco , and airlines can operate as normal while putting the clamps on small businesses

thats a great source but it doesnt match your assertion of 99.9999% which you know was hyperbole

I'm tired of everyone on all sides resorting to a hyperbolic stance, your point is plenty sufficient using the CDC stats

I was thinking of these stats other day wondering why we couldn't take a more relaxed approach with restaurants & bars and let people 49 & under go to restaurants and bars and elsewhere and keep the economy alive and warn the more at risk group of 50+ to try and quarantine until the vaccine is available.

I know that requires trusting people which governments and people driven by fear are afraid of doing so its unlikely but it seems that age group could keep things largely the same as it was pre-covid.

Yes it was a bit of hyperbole but not by much

I have a cousin in Michigan with a donut place that is close to losing everything because of the shutdowns so this shit really pisses me off

I feel ya brother. Donuts seems totally doable without human contact, ie.. to-go only. Is he/she not allowed even make donuts and sell them to go?

They finally asked fam for help so yeah we got them but it's ridiculous govt officials who won't miss a paycheck can shut them down.

FWIW they are looking to move back to Texas

thank gawd they're letting restaurants in Dallas at least do take out and some seating, enforcement of seating limitations sounds spotty at best according to the "Karens" I see posting on Facebook

@yimyammer Just for the record, Gates did say it would be about 2022 (actually I think he said 12 to 18 months) before we got back to "normal." Maybe it wasn't in that particular clip but I heard more of that interview in several radio shows yesterday.

Just clarifying that it wasn't a lie that he said it.
