I don't think Wilson is that. I see more of a box type safety. But, if we can get a center field type to complement him, then our safety position would be set for a while. Wilson is the real deal.
That's what I meant and should have said better. WIth Wilson playing this well now all we need(still) is a centerfield type safety to complement him.

Yep, no doubt.

He's only in his second year. As a sixth round pick, it's not hard to think that he needed some continued seasoning.
When he is so clearly better than the other guys starting over him it doesn't matter how young he is.

But that's not really clear from what we are able to see as fans.

We don't know what mental struggles he might still be having in practice.

All he does is make plays. Quit excusing not playing the Reaper

It's very clear from what we see as fans. You're just speculating as to something that's impossible to disprove. Sure it's possible the guy has basically just finally had the light bulb turn on just at the same time he hits the field. Even though we all have seen, heard and read things that showed us he was this type of player long before he got his shot this season.

This isn't difficult to see the Cowboys should have had him starting at the begining of this season.

Fans aren't getting the whole picture, that's the point.

You're just speculating as to something that's impossible to disprove.
I'm not doing anything, other than saying, perhaps Mike McCarthy knew better than you given that

a) he knows what the fuck he's doing, actually, and
b) sees all the practices himself and you don't.

Sure it's possible the guy has basically just finally had the light bulb turn on just at the same time he hits the field.
It wouldn't be a "coincidence," that the guy has the light bulb come on the "same time he hits the field." He hit the field BECAUSE the light bulb came on.

And yes, that is speculation, because I don't know, and neither do you. But it's a possibility that perhaps makes more sense than assuming that McCarthy was just sitting him for.... reasons.

Even though we all have seen, heard and read things that showed us he was this type of player long before he got his shot this season.
We all saw, heard and read things that indicated he had promise. Not that a sixth round pick from last season was ready for the full time role.

This isn't difficult to see the Cowboys should have had him starting at the begining of this season.
We simply don't know that.

Not really, he hit the field because Thompson was garbage. Actually I think he initially got playing time becaise Thompson got hurt. Then he just never gave the job back.

I'm not blaming McCarthy though. This would be more on the DBs coach or Nolan than anything. Glad he is back there starting though.

I'd probably blame McCarthy more for the Steele shitshow.

why is no one talking about how little we seem to be getting from Xavier Woods?

Yeah I've just given up on him. His attitude from the comments he made is shit. And his play is shit now too. He showed some promise earlier in his career but just never developed. He doesn't always stand out for his awful play but he does very little for us.

Not sure why it took them so long to realize this. Dude supposedly had a killer camp. Then nothing.
It was strange. Last year during training camp & in the preseason games he looked really good. Several people on this board thought he deserved a shot at one of the safety positions last year but he rarely saw the field.

I assumed it was just typical incompetence from Garrett & his staff but then the new staff crammed Thompson into the lineup ahead of Wilson for whatever reason. When you watch the games Wilson is easily superior to Thompson.

This is one of the things that is starting to worry me about McCarthy and his staff. I understand not being wishy-washy and not making rash decisions based on a handful of plays. But this new staff has gotten into the habit of waiting too long to make adjustments. Particularly when it comes to pulling struggling players from the lineup.

I didn't follow McCarthy that closely when he was at GB, so maybe this is who he is? I hope not.
