This group is good enough to win with though. Today should have been a win. Denver was very winnable, KC the same, SD too. At no point in our schedule have I felt like the team across from us was better than us personnel wise. Some teams sure, but it is not a landslide...so the difference then becomes coaching, not the owner.
Agree completely ! and it's rediculous that I sit there watching every 1 of those games knowing we will blow it. My 12 year old son loves the Cowboys as well ( tried talking him out of it years ago) and he gets heart broken every time they lose. He asks me yesterday "How come your not upset?" and my response "you will get use to this and expect to lose".
I told him back in the 90's you never had a doubt in your mind the Cowboys were winning on game day, now I'm praying for a 20 point lead with 2 minutes or less to gaurantee a win. Bad team, horrible gm & owner but 1 of the worst coaches in football tops it.

Maybe if there was 45 seconds or a minute left you'd have a point but using that as excuse to calm Bryant down is a cop out, not a god damned thing is happening in 12 seconds and we all know it. The damage was done, the game was over.
What do you think a coach like Parcells would say down by 1 with 12 seconds left?

Something along the lines of hope the kicker kicks it out of bounds, we'll hit Bryant (the other one) on a deep out, and kick the FG to get to OT where we'll beat the Giants.

Yeah, no way proven guys like BW Webb, Jeff Heath and Jakar Hamilton should've allowed them to move down the field like that. With top notch talent like that we should be unbeatable.

And no doubt the lack of a real HC has been a detrimental factor for us too over the years. I wish somehow Garrett and Wade wouldn't have forced Jerry to hire them.

We're an 8-8 (anywhere from 6-10 to 10-6) team in an 8-8 league. We're not elite, and we're not the dregs. We're in limbo and have been for awhile.

Limbo for 18 years and counting. Going to be there for another 18 if Jerry continues to run the team the same way.

I agree with this assessment. Dallas has been in every game this season. Except for critical strategically placed screw ups this team can compete. We are wasting our time however trying to sell this group a half full glass. I don't even try.
They are always in games but you should know what happens quite frequently. Been happening for years now.

The talent is very comparable to most of the league but as many us have been saying for a while, coaching is what is holding us back.

The NFL is all about parity and the difference between 8-8 and 11-5 is a good HC.

The reason we lose so many close games is because our HC is average at best. You can count on him costing his team 2 games a year with questionable 4th quarter decisions.

I think VA is the furthest thing from saying Garrett is blameless, I feel like I've seen him hate on Garrett many times.

But this team isn't super talented.

It's average talent, average coach, negative force at GM.

Combine it all together and you get 8-8 every year. We are the epitome of average.

I don't even think Garrett is average to be honest.

He is in a group with people like Leslie Frazier.

The talent is good enough to win...definitely better than the shit show Parcells took to the playoffs his first year. Better coaching would make a huge difference.

Absolutely.

We have given Marinelli and Kiffen a lot of credit for getting scrubs to play this way, but maybe more credit should be given to the pro scouting department for finding these players.

But for all the credit we are giing to Kiffen and Marinelli, where is the blame?

This defense has:

- allowed four 400 yd passers
- allowed 51 points in a game
- had 4 T/Os and still managed to lose the game

Even some of the wins we've had have not been that impressive due to the defense. Anyone remember the season opener? We had a buttload of turnovers in that game as well and still barely won.

But yeah let's blame the HC or QB for the failures of this team instead of the GM who put this shit storm of a team together and hired all these supposed geniuses to laed this vast talent that Carp is going on about.
