I don't agree that it will screw up the cap for the future. Contracts like Lawrence and Jaylon Smith are what screw uo the cap. Not some one year deal for 5 -10 mil with incentives.

For the record we have 24 mil in cap space right now. So I don't want to hear about a 1 year prove it deal killing then cap. That's nothing but an excuse. Talk to me about Crawfords contract killing the cap before this shit.

Now I don't know if a Snacks or Earl Thomas makes a huge difference but you can't tell me they wouldn't help.
I think they should sign some guys too, but to be fair I think he's talking about the ability to roll over this year's cap space into next year. Can't do that if you spend it all on band aids this year.

I get it but 5-10 mil total isn't what kills your cap. Its the 100 mil contracts that can. Carrying cap over is great but that really only allows you to spend over the cap for the short term before it's all burned up.

What else kills the cap is keeping turds like Crawford around for 10 mil imstead of getting better players. But I guess his money is guaranteed for the season now so nothing we can do about that. We basically have to wait for his normal injury for relief from his shitty play.

fair points, I just don't think ET or Snacks would do that kind of contract plus jeri always takes it on the short hairs with players so cost will just be compounded in negotiations imo. Not to mention the issues that seem to come with ET

Further, I think this season is toast and would rather preserve cap for future years and get the best draft position possible and hope for a miracle going forward. It would probably be best to go 1-15 and draft a QB that wont incur the type of salary Dak will get paid. It seems to me the only chance of success in Dallas is a miraculous run during a window where the QB is still on his rookie contract. Once the QB gets paid, its pretty much over in Dallas unless of course that QB is the top 1 or 2 in the league capable of leading the team to wins with lesser talent but it doesnt appear thats the case with Dak.

At the end of the day, I dont think it will ever matter what is done here as no-one and nothing can overcome the jones stank permeating through the origination where everyone is a "star", gets paid & eschews discomfort with a big ol attaboy from the asshole who signs their checks.

It feels like we need Michael Irvin to do another "list" starting with ownership, the front office and then the players (but of course it'll never happen with the buffoon owner still sucking oxygen):

if reports are true about how ET acted in Baltimore then he could actually hurt the team and gobble up cap space in the process so I dont think its a lock that he would help the team. He's not the ET of 5+ years ago

You know what's a quick and easy fix for this issue? Benching guys.

But I guess holding players accountable for their play is a no-no in Big D.
Especially the guys who carry the high cap figures.

Miami wouldnt and possibly the Giants.
The Giants would have to be retarded to keep Daniel Jones over Trevor Lawrence. Daniel Jones is never going to be better than a mediocre NFL QB. Any idiot should be able to see that at this point.

Same goes for the Jets. And frankly at this point in Ryans career I'd get the QB too. Even though I think Matt Ryan is good still, just not great and his mobility limits what he can do.

Here is one mock...

There is a 0 point fucking 0% chance I'm taking a CB over Micah Parsons.

Farley is a nice prospect for sure, excellent ball skills, but our biggest problem with LVE out is not having a dynamic LB who can navigate through traffic and stuff the run while playing assignment sound, and Parsons is that and more.

With that said, I'd imagine there's probably no better than a 25% chance we actually pick that high so it's probably moot anyway.
