Elliott is the most concerning to me...like others have posted the guy has turned into a fullback type workhorse when the NFL game is really about guys like a Kamara who can break it at any snap. Elliott has lost a gear or something.
Same here, I'm not sure if he was just partying extra hard before this season or what but he's performing like Barber in his last year when we could all tell he was on his last legs

I don't understand how Dlaw went from a one man wrecking machine even with a hurt back to a guy who cant get a sack. Also when is this team going to start beating good teams again? Seems like come up short every year in the tough games.

Lawrence was a bit better today but he's clearly not as hungry as he was circa 2017 or 2018. It's a shame but at this point it seems we'll just be waiting out the next 2 years or so before we can clear his salary off the books while getting probably 75% of what he was before the contract.

Maybe if the media/social media pisses him off enough asking why Aldon Smith, who has literally been on the street (living actually in the streets) for like 5 years, is outperforming him so thoroughly, it'll light something in him.

I saw one play he got pissed and just shoved the right tackle 5 yards deep in the backfield and we would have gotten a TFL if they hadn't held Jaylon (which got called). So he still has something. He just seems like he doesn't give a fuck for some reason. Maybe he just wants to stay healthy. Who knows. He just doesn't have the temperament to have given a big contract to.

At some point, the braintrust aka Jerry the Stellar GM will need to invest heavily along the D line.
And by investing heavily, I mean going and getting FA in their prime and sprinkling in draft picks from big conference schools. This shit show defense that has been rolling out on the field every season is ridiculous.
No pass rush, piss poor safety play, and zero push from the NT position. It’s a constant theme every season.
When Aldon Smith is your best player on D....something is wrong.

Well it took 10 years to get rid of Garrett. How long since we have had a legit safety? I figure we have to do the same 10 or more.

Feels like we're headed down the same road that we traveled with Romo where bad defense and spotty coaching only netted you occasional playoff appearances that were capped off by early round exits.

Pretty much every QB except for maybe the top 5 guys need coaching advantages and a solid defense. I can't think of any QBs who've had to score 30+ per game just to reach the Super Bowl. But that appears to be what it will take in order for the Cowboys to reach a Super Bowl. So I don't look at it as a negative that he needs coaching and a supportive defense.

Even the Chiefs defense manned up and carried their weight last year. They even made up for Mahomes throwing a couple of INTs in the Super Bowl.

It's just a shame that going on 10 years now the Cowboys defense has largely just been along for the ride. And they don't bail out the offense nearly as much as the offense bails them out.
I get that, but Dak had the ball last in both of our losses despite all of that and still didn't get it done.

Honestly, he didn't even get all that close either.

I just feel like a true franchise QB finds a way to overcome the odds. Maybe not all the time, but at least some of them. And if Dak is really capable of being elite, he has to have the ball last and win more than he has up to this point in his career in those situations.

I want to see the guy make a play in that scenario and he just hasn't done it.

Yeah I would have liked to see that last pffensive posession ran totally differently. Not sure if it is play calling or what. But you gashed Seattle with your recievers all day long. You can't get so conservative in a critical moment like that last drive. Use the middle of the field but get yards. Don't dump shit off to Zeke. Honestly Zeke shouldn't have even been on the field. Pollard is more explosive.

Agreed.

The playcalling and time management on both of those game-ending drives have left me scratching my head.

But Dak isn't blameless in those drives coming up short. There was a pass late in the drive yesterday that was dropped by Wilson that if caught, probably ends the game right there.

In that situation, you shouldn't even be throwing that pass there. You have to be smarter and you have to recognize the situation your are in and know that the LAST thing you can do is throw a 3 yard pass that does nothing for you and basically takes off 15-20 seconds from the clock.

There's a lot of work that needs to be done by the staff and Dak himself on these 2 min drives because right now, it's bad.

I can't believe it's still this poor and Garrett is gone.

I am very disappointed in this coaching staff as they have played a significant role in all of the teams mistakes and shortcomings in all 3 games so far.

You mean the 14 times that he has actually done it prior to last season? Which is the most of any QB in his first three years.

Lets not act like he hasnt done it before just because this one fell south. What about the week before? Regardless of the onsides thing he still had to overcome a 15 point 4th quarter deficit.

He can bring them back, but I'm talking about being behind and having the ball last and getting them into the endzone.

How many times has that happened?

I'm genuinely curious because it doesn't feel like many.
