How cute. They still think there will be a season.

I have never been on a roller coaster like this in all of my days watching sports. The new coaching staff and draft had me homering like almost never before, and now I couldn't be less excited to see the Training Camp thread started. Sucks.

No bubble like the NBA means a lot more players testing postive. What they really need is instantaneous testing that they can do the morning of game day.

I am starting to think they force the shit out of it and then it gets shut down in embarrassing fashion.
That's my thinking as well. I'm pretty positive we won't get college football this season but I could see the NFL plowing ahead and only shutting down if positive tests get to a ridiculous level.

I've been reading that they're still debating and negotiating protocols and here we are just hours away from some players reporting for camp. You have to wonder WTH have they been doing the last 3 months. Why are you waiting until the 11th hour to hammer out details that should have been addressed months ago.

I want the league to be pushing for a season aggressively. We all know it won’t be clean, but god damn, y’all! It’s already been almost 5 months of this shit. We need this, to the extent that we will get it .

Why all the sour grapes about the NFL having a season?

It's cool for players to have this attitude, but there has to be consequences... players who don't show up for TC should get shut down for the season, no pay, no accrued time, etc.. It's going to be hard enough to prepare as it is without having to play the "will they or won't they show up" game every week.

Well as of right now don't the players have to opt out by August 1st? Or is that just a proposal?

It'd be relatively easy to keep players in a decentralized bubble in each team's respective city. You'd basically just have to rent out a hotel campus for the entire season in each city, don't let anybody else stay there and have the hometown players and visiting teams live out of there for the entire season. You'd need to have a dedicated team plane/buses to transport them to practices, games, etc.

Continuously test the players, coaches and support staff, to include the pilots, bus drivers, hotel workers, etc.

You could even let a limited number of family members "live" with them in the hometown hotels to some extent if they agree to be tested continuously.

The players and the NFLPA would throw a hissy fit over it I'm sure because it would be very isolating/restrictive, and for that reason I think it's ultimately unrealistic, but it could be done if the appetite is there and to be honest, if you're being paid millions the appetite should be there.

I'd be more than happy to tell my wife, family and friends to fuck off for 5 months while I make anywhere from $1-20 million.

You can tell your kids one day that you remember the day the New Era began.
