It's funny because of lot of people sure seemed to prop my original post on this subject. Suddenly everyone is now off the rails about it since I had the audacity to suggest we should be replacing someone who was 3rd leading receiver last year and 4th in yardage. That's not nothing but the overarching point before the anti Witten circle jerk brigade stepped in was always that we've lost a lot of production across the board on both sides of the ball despite actually having plenty of cap space to prevent that from happening if we wanted to.

I don't know how the focus got on Witten other than agenda but that's far and away not the point.

The point is it's frustrating watching other teams get better while we sit with our thumb up our ass.

Let’s talk about the other side of the ball. The defense was easily the weak link last year. The offense will be ok......

We lost Maliek Collins and replaced him w an upgrade. We lost Heath and upgraded. We lost Byron, and I would bet we draft a replacement. We lost Quinn, and we got nada to replace him as of yet. Defense has far more concern I believe. I’m praying we get more help there from FA.

Do you think he's getting an all pro number of catches like 90 or more? Because that's what it would take for JARWIN to replace witten's numbers.

I think the point is that Jarwin can likely replicate Witten’s 63, and actually more effectively, and therefore what needs to be replaced is 31. Which when you think about it, given that Witten also demanded heavily playing time, might get substantially spread to the receivers instead.

Agreed however that the WR situation is concerning. Shoulda paid Sanders what he got.

This is nit picking... someone will step up as backup TE and slot WR and get solid production.

With the major pieces in place at the gratuitous talent level we have, ALL that matters is Dak taking the next step

I’m not worried about backup TE... not least of all because I doubt it’s a big role in McCarthy’s offense.

Third WR is vital though. Unless we are spending a premium draft pick on it, it should have been addressed so far and really Sanders would have been perfect.

I think in this draft with probably the most talent we have seen at WR, I'm ok just drafting a reciever and expecting him to contribute as the third guy (Maybe in the slot or maybe outside with Cooper in the slot)

But there are only so many picks and you don't want to box yourself into a need because you'll end up overlooking a DT, Corner, DE or Safety who is more talented.

The point actually is that there are 118 receptions that need to be replaced between losing our number 3 and number 4 pass catchers.

More than one person will have to pick that up. It's a lot of production out the door.
