What's mind-boggling to me right now is that we haven't restructured or cut Crawford yet. We could save about $8 million by cutting him, which is basically the cost of an above average starting player, and at the very least we should be slashing his salary down to about $2-3 million from the current $9 figure if we want to keep him.

Sounds like they feel he's better than what's available in FA.

It's not like Dallas has an abundance of defensive players under contract, so they might not be able to be picky.

He sucks but I'm sure they view him as a DE to replace Quinn which is pathetic. I'm sure the thought right now is Crawford+Gregory=Quinn.

I look at it this way. They already invested a 1st rounder (2019) in Cooper. If they let him walk, you're going to use your 2019 and 2020 1st round picks to end up with ONE ROOKIE RECEIVER?

That's about the worst misuse of resources I have ever heard of.

To be fair in 2018 our DEs were basically just Lawrence/Crawford/Gregory.

Trufant is kind of a no brainer. Has a direct tie to Nolan, arguably pretty much the same caliber of player as Jones, still young enough, etc.

If the smoke about Chris Harris Jr. is accurate I don't see why we wouldn't be interested in Trufant as well.

I'd rather check in on Taylor Gabriel. Similar player who was released by the Bears so he wouldn't cost anything in a trade nor would he impact comp picks.

this defense should be interesting with an influx of different players. Whether its better than last year is to be seen, but I think change is good for this unit. Talk about under performance.
