Maybe he’s worried Garrett would walk right out the door and into a five-year deal with____________
I hope he gets to test the market.

For some reason, I have this feeling he'll never coach again in the NFL.

and a part of me wonders if an NFL team would even make him an offer for HC

You have to wonder if Jerry doesn't already have a coach sort of locked up who isn't free yet. Now that would be playoffs, could be a coach with a bowl game left. Who knows, but it seems like maybe there is some reason for the slow movement and lack of care about other teams snagging coaches.

I hope you're right and it's not just incompetence.

This is likely just a way to keep the story going longer. If they already have a coach in waiting, and it's a fait accompli, they are going to be violating the Rooney rule, at least in spirit. Again.

I'll be shocked if he gets a coordinator position..

Say what you want...but its becoming obvious Jones isn't 100% on board with firing this motherfucker.

What could Jason's argument to stay possibly be? We set all kinds of records for underachieving this year and there were no excuses. He didn't get enough out of the team and was consistently outcoached. Simply put, this was a playoff team that didn't make the playoffs because of poor coaching.

At this point, I'm not confident in anything.. Matter of fact, I'm getting a sinking feeling Jones is having to be talked INTO firing him by Stephen and others in the family. Garrett being announced as gone should have happened by now IMO.
I'm not saying it's obvious they won't either. Just that nothing is obvious with Jerry Jones.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a college team try to get him.

No shit. But my real wanna know thing is what the fuck they are discussing? Are Garrett's roll under the bus powers getting traction?

It's like a girlfriend who you like as a person but you know you don't want to be with anymore. Breaking up can be hard for some people.

If I were Garrett convincing Jerruh for one more year, I’d bring up Mike Tomlin and his spotty results since 2010, yet Rooney has decided to keep him around

Three playoff wins since their 2010 Super Bowl loss. That’s 9 seasons. Exact same as Garrett.

Steelers have Missed playoffs two years straight after losing their Divisional Playoff game as #2 seed in 2017 season.

Lots of naivety here, IMO, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.
If Jones wanted him back he would offer a contract. So let’s all agree he doesn’t want him anymore as a coach. If he wanted him in any other capacity it could account for what appears to be negotiations.

Jones is offering something but not a coaching contract. Other than that it could be some cleanup over what Garrett may feel he is owed still. I don’t know but it will all come out in the wash.

For a man that has rejected the use of analytics, he could use analytics to convince Jerruh that the highest percentage way for improvement next season is to retain Garrett.

Horrible in one-score games this season, Cowboys should naturally regress, ie improve, to the mean...especially now that he’s found Mr. Perfect, Kai Forbath.

Certainly better than subjecting Dak Prescott to a new offensive system.

A mulligan.

Owed? What could he possibly be owed after making 70 million or so for average results?
