Hardly. That was pretty much textbook.
I re-watched it multiple times and just don’t see targeting there. Looked bang-bang to me, but not targeting. Chase Young’s headlock takedown looked a lot worse, and that wasn’t particularly dirty, either.

He got him with the crown of the helmet. It really wasn't egregious. Very bang-bang as you mentioned.

My only problem with it is I believe the only reason they even reviewed it was because Lawrence got hurt on the play. If Lawrence had popped right up after the sack I don't think they even bother reviewing the play for targeting.

Start at the 16 second mark of the one I posted, the helmet to helmet shot is clear

That’s basically how I feel as well. If Lawrence didn’t get hurt, there’s no review.

You ain't getting it. I am a little shocked at how impotent Clemson looks.
I'm behind by an hour on my DVR but so far you're right. Clemson looks so much smaller than OSU too

Looks like a big turning point may have just happened with the targeting call and ejection. Geez, that seems harsh and completely changed the momentum, we'll see if it matters.......

lol, sure looked like it

just horrible imo, total momentum changer, losing the player too seems WAY too harsh

How define targeting?
I mean he led with his helmet but that definitely didn't seem serious enough to eject a player. It happens all the time. The only reason it was called is because Lawrence got hurt.

And now Ohio State is fucking themselves.

Hell, there are still homers over there claiming that despite the blowout loss, just getting to the playoffs was a huge positive for the program.
That is the sad thing. There are homers, everywhere.

Most of them don't have a deep knowledge of the team and I hate to say it, I question how most can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time.

If you try to get all analytical about the team and actually question things, they get upset.

Then you are the asshole.

Yep, that's a catch and fumble.

here's a slo-mo version:

Watch the one I posted earlier from the other angle, he definitely lowers his helmet and hits Lawrence helmet.

Look, I don't like the rule either, but that is targeting as the rule is written.

Live I thought it was an incomplete pass. Upon review it looked to me like a catch and fumble.
I didn't think that would get overturned since this is college

It's so hard when the QB lowered his target. Had he not lowered his head the defender sticks him in the chest. Just seems sad to cost a young man the chance to play in this huge game over that play.

I agree, I hate the rule. I have seen it called and confirmed numerous times for a lot less though
