I don't see them intentionally tanking for Tua or Herbert. Lawrence, yes, but not those two guys. They had enough talent to make the divisional round last year and Brissett is serviceable, so I doubt that a massive reversal is on the horizon.

Well Lawrence isn't eligible until 2021 so they could still try this year and hope they get lucky and tank next year

Yes, unlike when they drafted Luck, the timing's off this time. Zona or the Phins might be shittier teams anyway.

A guy in my brothers money league was handed both Luck and Lamar Miller courtesy of the autodraft yesterday. I believe it was pretty late In the draft but it's a $100 entry fee.

I think this is a case where more than one thing can be true.

Luck absolutely should look out for his long term health, especially if playing the game was no longer fun and had become too much of a burden for him.

HOWEVER, I also think it's fair to criticize the timing of it all. He plays the most important position in sports. Quarterbacks literally hold the fate of the coaching staff and success of the franchise in their hands. Knowing that you're in that position of importance/power I think you owe it to your team to make that decision more than 2 weeks out. If the injury came about in April, by mid to late July he should have made the call as to whether he's in or out.

You know how these cut throat owners are.
Quarterbacks fall into a different category. Franchise QBs reap benefits that no one else on the roster receives.

If Joe Blow the DE walked away early on a $600K contract, I'm willing to bet they wouldn't have let him keep the money.

Also you have to consider that they are trying to maintain good will with Luck just in case he changes his mind and decides to return to the NFL. Which is a possibility.

This is dead on where I am on this. He has every right in the world to quit for the sake of his health/future/family. But, this is terrible timing for the team.

The point is however, owners aren’t unscrupulous as a general matter. I think most are pretty fair minded with players. The one circumstance owners should maintain with a hard line is players that break the rules and choose their own unethical and illegal lifestyle. Owners from every business community have or should have a short leach for this behavior because it costs and affects everyone in the organization.

Looks like the Captain Luck parody account has been replaced with a Dak Prescott one.

It's just not the same. Poor guy lost his twitter career. Luck should apologize to him.
