This years coaching hot seat.
I don't see why a team with big boosters don't throw the bank at him. He makes almost $5M/yr now and I'm guessing there's some oil men who would be willing to donate so Texas could make an offer than Bama can't/won't match.
A new program with more to work on and similar resources would make Nick Saban unstoppable. The only thing that can ever slow him down is a program getting stale. If he leaves on top at Bama he'll rebuild Texas and be just as good only new and fresh.
Feh.My question is...when Bama matches or beats the $10M to get Saban to stay, where does Texas turn then? Art Briles?
I'm not convinced anyone can just take him from Bama. They have more resources than they know what to do with and football is all they care about.Feh.
If they want him, they're going to get him....but if they somehow don't, I don't think I want Art Briles.
He's done some good things in recent years, but this program needs a bigger, more proven name than that.
I'd take him, but I'm not sure he comes over that soon into his NFL career.I seriously doubt that. So far I am liking him but I don't think he's ready for all of that.
Honestly, I think a ballsy, aggressive, young coach would be great.
I'm guessing that they go with more of a statesman though. Which will be boring.
How bout this - Chip Kelly.
Kirby Smart should also get some attention.Aside from Saban I'd say the top realistic options for Texas would be David Shaw and Charlie Strong. Maybe Oregon's HC would be interested since he may want to get out of Kelly's shadow.
You better be fucking with me.Breaking news....
Jason Suchomel of Orangebloods.com is reporting that Texas and Mack Brown have agreed to what's believed to be a 6 year contract extension. Exact details are still unclear. More details to follow.

Whoa. I didn't see that one coming.
Sorry, Ace.
