Looks like Harris, free, smith, Scandrick, Durant and Lissemore will play. Key vets.

Supposedly we are even holding out Will Allen. Jesus, that dude should at least feel like he has to compete for his job. I understand holding out certain vets but guys who probably don't even belong starting in this league should be forced to try and earn their jobs.

Why is Romo in uniform if he's not gonna play?

I'd be more upset if this wasn't like a freebie preseason game.

Wouldn't say I'm upset, but I think it sends the wrong message to some of the veteran guys. Basically telling a guy like Will Allen that he doesn't have any competition for the starting spot, which shouldn't be the case. If our coaches think he should have starting spot locked up already then they are idiots.

That's hilarious. Even a career backup like Allen gets "starter status" on this team of entitled assholes.

It bugs me because it denotes status.

He isn't competing for a job. That should bother you.
It doesn't because it's an extra preseason game. If he's not playing in one of the four that all the teams get, like I said, then I'd be more upset.

I don't think it denotes much more than he's a veteran who doesn't need to work on the basics of the scheme cause he knows most of it. Not "status."

I have never watched this "America's Got Talent" show.

If it is about talent, why the hell is Howie Mandel a judge?

Feh.

He's been handed a starting job no matter what Johnson or Wilcox do the rest of this preseason.

I have a real issue with that.

You learn scheme in practice, not in games. If his veteran status means that he doesn't need to bother playing, they why play him at all during the preseason?

Sad but true. People thought we brought him in as a veteran to teach some of the other guys the scheme but in reality we brought him in here to be a starter. Something he hasn't shown to be capable of over his long career.

Well that may be, but I don't think that's why he's not playing tonite. I think the coaches know what they are getting with him and they just aren't giving many vets many reps tonite.

Why is Doug Free playing then? He knows the scheme.

How exactly is a career backup who has accomplished jack and shit in his professional career earn "vet" status?
