No hyperbole...Carter in the beginning of his rookie year was the worst QB I've ever seen."Handed" is definitely the right term to use.
In the piece on the official site they made it sound as if Carter beat out all the other QBs to earn the starting spot his rookie year, but that's a load of BS.
I remember Tony Banks looking a lot better than Carter but Banks was the one who got cut. Banks wasn't a world beater by any means but he looked a lot better than Carter during the 2001 preseason.
The guy could not complete a simple throw, and every pass was a duck. His mechanics were horrible.
He broke his thumb early in the season and missed a lot of time, but that was the best thing that happened to him because he must've spent a lot of his downtime working on his throwing motion because he looked much better when he came back from that injury than he did before it.
Point is, he didn't beat anyone for anything. Brandon Weeden wouldve been better back then.....that's how bad preseason Quincy was.
