Glad to see that Europe now includes Russia, South America, Australia now. Its about damn time.
Do the Russians BAC ever drop below .05?

Like I said, I wouldn't care. If someone told me today that alcohol was now illegal and I would never have a beer again as long as I live, it wouldn't ruin my day. I can live without it and knowing the roads at night would be safer would be comforting.

Drugs are illegal, too. Good thing we don't have to worry about some crackhead going nuts any more.

There is a big difference between wanting to drink and wanting to be able to drink and drive.

Oh, so what you're saying is that compared to the alternative of losing alcohol priveledges altogether, just a law lowering the allowed BAL when driving isn't as bad as it's made out to be?

I'm saying that they're two completely different things, and you can't make me choose one or the other. HAH

Whenever you text while driving intoxicated, a bald eagle gets its wings.

If the government tells me I can't drink and drive then the least they should do is subsidize designated drivers.

You know what else I want to do? Text and drive, because I'm damn good at it.
I honked and gave an "eyes on the road" gesture to some lady for texting and driving on the expressway a few days ago. Had the phone up in front of her face and was clearly not focused on the road. She seemed really surprised to get called out on it but I consider that at least as dangerous as someone with a .05 BAC behind the wheel.

My wife one day called the number on the side of a van to report the driver for texting and driving. Turns out the one driving was the owner of the company. The lady got PISSED. :lol

You'd live with it cause it wouldn't affect you but once again it's controlling people's behavior on the assumption that they can't control themselves.

Which I find wrong.

Both are bad.

It does affect me. If people are driving drunk, it can affect me. If those cases decrease, it affects me in a positive way.

I'm not sure I'm buying the .05 BAC is going to cause enough impairment to cause a person to be a danger behind the wheel. I see the stats they've given but stats can be manipulated to fit an agenda. Seems like more of an effort to hand out more DUI tickets to me.

I doubt .05 would pass in Texas, at least anytime soon. They just passed a bill to make texting while driving illegal but of course Rick Perry has already come out and said he'll veto it the first chance he gets if it becomes law. Nevermind the fact that people die from texting and driving every day.

Stats aside, I believe that someone who is texting and driving is every bit as dangerous as someone who gets behind the wheel at .05 BAC. I'm certainly not advocating driving drunk, I just think lowering the standard to .05 is unnecessary and will mostly only serve to punish people who aren't a real threat.
