Today's the day.

Glavine, Maddux and Cox going into the HOF. :towel

It'll be interesting to see if Smoltz gets in some day. My guess is that he gets the Jack Morris treatment.

I'm hoping his time as a reliever pushes him over the top.

So Chris Archer is upset that Ortiz flipped his bat. If he cant handle that I feel sorry for him when Gallo is called up.

Ortiz hit a homerun and flipped his bat. Archer took exception to the flip and was quoted saying that Aaron didnt flip his bat. Ortiz has answered with a you dont like it stay out of there remark.

Sounds like Archer is just being a little bitch.

He's just sticking up for Price because he's been his mentor the past 3 years. Price and Ortiz have had issues in the last year and when Ortiz hit it, he showed off a little to stick it to him.

That's fine. Every homerun he hits this year is meaningless with how bad they are and it just fuels the young guy to keep getting better. He's been very good this year.

Cleveland sending Justin Masterson to StL. That was one of the main targets in a Price trade, so I'm assuming he's either completely off the market or their win streak made the price even higher than StL was willing to do.

Red Sox trade Lester and Gomes to the A's for Cespedes. Damn, I'm surprised the A's feel they can make their run easier without him.

Yeah. Seems like a weird trade for the A's as far as what they gave up for a rental.

Wow...huge deal. A's are all in, but I would not trade Cespedes for Lester. Unless their plan is to let Lester walk after the season and also wanted to get out from under Cespedes contract. Frees up money for next year in that scenario, but damn.

Cespedes has never been a Bean like player with how free swinging he is, but it's odd timing to deal him and an odd return.

@ChrisLatvala: If Cespedes is worth 2 months of Lester, Andrew Friedman is about to fleece the Cardinals or Dodgers.

DOOOOOOOO EEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!

I'm thankful that the Rangers now only have to face Cespedes 7 times instead of 19.

I think that about has to be it. Sort of surprised Beane figures they can survive the loss of his bat for the pitching upgrade down the stretch/in the playoffs, but they do work the hell out of platoons in Oakland and Gomes mashes lefties.

I'm rooting for the A's to win it all now. They've been knocking on the door by getting into the postseason the past few years. Took some serious balls to make the moves they did to try and knock the door down this year. Love to see them get it done.

Their rotation is crazy good in a series now with Lester, Samarjia, and Gray...deadly in the divisional round.

Oakland doesn't have the bucks to sign Lester long-term, so that's a lot to give up for a "rental" pitcher.

Yeah. I can't stand rentals. I know the reason you do it but it still drives me crazy. Rangers were burned by Dumpster and Garza. At least with Lee we had him for another year and made it to the show.

The ‪#‎MNTwins‬ have acquired left-handed pitcher Tommy Milone from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for outfielder Sam Fuld. Milone made 16 starts for Oakland this season and posted a 6-3 record with a 3.55 ERA (96.1 IP, 38 ER). He will report to Triple-A Rochester. Additionally, the Twins have recalled first baseman Kennys Vargas from Double-A New Britain to take the spot of Fuld on the 25-man roster.-------------
Can't really figure out why Milone would be sent to AAA. With those numbers, he'd probably be at least our 2nd starter. :art

Looking forward to watching Vargas. I really hope the Twins start the youth movement soon. There are a lot of guys I'd like to see brought up. Let 'em learn and grow together.

Also, kind of cool that the A's had Fuld earlier this year and cut him. The Twins picked him up off waivers. Now they get a decent pitcher to send him back.
