In the offseason I disagree. During the season? I agree.
I mean, I don’t see a reasonably likely path towards turning this defense into anything more than mediocre. And we have seen what top rated Dak led offense plus mediocre defense gets us.

You can build a damn good defense in an offseason. Especially with 2 first round picks. But you have to try. Let's not pretend that we don't see teams go from picking in the top 10 to winning their division. You have an elite offense built. It would be absolutely silly to not go all in.

You can but it’s not likely.

Asset accumulation is usually a better bet.

I know, you want to rip it down and rebuild from scratch. That's not happening though.

So yeah we should go All In. But you're right in that it's not likely. Not likely that we will stretch the cap to try to win it this year at the risk that money will be due down the road. Instead we won't go all in. Nor are we likely to do what you want in terms of asset acquisition and rebuilding.

Instead we will take the middle road and shoot for mediocre defense and great offense. And hope we build a playoff team that won't go anywhere past the first or second round.

Jacksonville for example.

New DC and an infusion of help on defense to go along with an already potent offense.

Yeah. Sign me up for win now, too. Doesn’t make much sense to try accumulate assets while that offense gets older and starts to lose pieces.
When you look at the personnel on some of the top defenses in the league it's not that impressive.

Denver, Philly, and Houston?

Sure, definitely impressive.

But teams like NE, the Chargers and Seattle?

Their personnel isn't significantly better than ours across the board and it really does come down to coaching. I don't know how any of it will work out but I do know that a very good to elite defensive staff could take more or less what we have now and turn it into something decent, assuming health.

Exactly … it has everything to do with coaching … take the 49ers case in point …..that team is decimated with injuries and yet still won 12 games and now upset the 3 seed in the playoffs … yes Philly isn’t that good but still on the road in a hostile environment and got the job done …. Coaching means the world

Hopefully he is too old and tired to rebuild that organization
NY has some talent so I'm sure he'll make them competitive but I'm not overly worried about him winning big there.

Dart is very meh to me and Harbaugh has long been a product of the Ravens having elite defenses in his early years, and then Jackson in his later years, both of which were sort of a function of their organizational culture that they have which the Giants don't.

At 65 or whatever he is I don't see him sticking around long enough to make a big long term impact unless Dart is significantly better than I believe he is.

I can see why the Giants would be a lot more attractive than Tennessee or Cleveland or wherever.

If it's just reckless driving...? BFD. That charge is subjective, anyway. You can be charged for reckless driving if the officer believes you are driving recklessly. Could be that you are exceeding the speed limit a little too high. Or just driving recklessly in bad weather. I specifically name those two because those were the two reasons I was charged with reckless driving in my younger years. Both times chose to go to court and it was dropped to care required. Paid a fine and went on my merry way. I don't know about other states, but in North Dakota, a reckless driving is a class B misdemeanor. Care required nothing more than a traffic citation.

If it was alcohol/drug related it would have been mentioned. Or anything else that was worse.
