No state income tax in Texas, unlike Wisconsin, but I'm sure the agent took that into account. Probably had more marketing/sponsorship opportunities as a Cowboy, too. Not to mention living in a glamorous city instead of a sleepy little whitebread town up North. Oh well.

Stopping the run is going to be all about gap discipline. And I guess from that aspect Parsons wasn't a great fit. Awesome talent but he took whatever path he needed to get a sack or splash play.

I know the prevailing "star narrative" makes it sound like no matter what we suck for trading away Micah in his prime.

But 90% of Joe-fans and people in the media perpetuating that narrative don't understand how vital a role a player like Clark plays.

And it's not like we have nothing left at edge... we have enough talent there.

Parsons is going to make some incredible plays in Green Bay, but it's because they've built that D the right way and not bass-ackwards like we have.

Barring injury, Clark is going to show this fricking team and their coaches just how valuable a tough DT is to a defense. More valuable than a pure pass rusher, IMO.

Speaking of, IIRC Clark has never missed a start in his career. Pretty amazing at that position.

Ok, so I'm going to look at the positives or at least fake it.

Clark is good and was banged up with a foot injury last year, toe.

Micah was kind of a distraction. Podcasts and shit. I'm sure the whole locker room wasn't fond of him.

4 playoff games, 1 sack.

We complain about the run defense and the DT's. When we got ran over a lot of runs right at Micah and around him.

I don't know. I'm trying.

I think I'd be fine with it if we got a another 2nd and 3rd or something.

Parsons wasn't the difference between winning a Superbowl this year or not winning a Superbowl this year. I agree with that, but players like Parsons have absolutely been the difference between Superbowl and non Superbowl. Von Miller who in my opinion was a very similar player in his prime, has 2 Superbowls with 2 teams for a reason. And that Broncos defense was legit awesome because of his pass rush. So yeah, I do think Parsons could have been a big part of a Superbowl team. We just say not here because the Cowboys are a lost organization with no hope. But he is the centerpiece you need on a Superbowl caliber defense. It's why the Packers just paid him 47 mil and traded away two first round picks.

What we did was take a massive step backwards in terms of having a Superbowl caliber defense. And not just in terms of this year but next year and the year after and the year after. And that's no offense to Kenny Clark. I love me a probowl DT. And Kenny Clark at 26 years old would have been pretty legit in a trade. But at this point it feels like we are getting the downside of his career and not the prime.

Anyway, I loved EZ when we drafted him. He supposedly had an awesome camp. I didn't really see much of anything in preseason but maybe when the seasons starts I'll get some confidence in him. I do think he has 10 sack type potential, just wasn't really thinking he'd get those type of snaps as a rookie.

Perfect, thanks, and those are several of the plays that I saw in the all-22 that I thought were impressive. It's subtle at times, only causing a pileup at the LOS, but that's some of the important overlooked stuff that the casuals don't notice (and that @ravidubey loves).

Their DT's are terrible now without Clark against the run. Devonte Wyatt is a good interior rusher but he's basically a poor man's Osa at this point.

This is what I've been saying for a while now, anybody pining over getting 2025 picks doesn't follow the draft stuff closely.

There are going to be 4-5 QBs over the next two years who are better prospects than Ward, and the 2027 class might have several legitimate "generational" prospects.

You have a guy who might be the best WR prospect since Calvin Johnson and two guys who will be Abdul Carter-level, if not better.

Maybe at the end with the training table and the negotiating tactics and all, they got sick of him (which by the way, was Parsons' and his agent's plan all along).

But beyond that, this is bullshit.

If they were so sick of him, then why did Jerry personally offer him a contract in April that would have paid him the most non QB money ever?

Why as recently as the interview with Irvin was Jerry asking Irvin to personally talk to Parsons and get him to sign?

The narrative they're putting out there, that Parsons was a problem all along, doesn't match their actions prior to about a week ago.

It reeks of a lack of direction and impulsivity. The various contingencies should have been mapped out before FA started. They knew, ballpark, what he was going to cost, and the meter was running. If the old bastard had sticker shock, looking for a trade partner in March would’ve been ideal. We all pretty much agree it wouldn’t have cost $47 million then, that means a wider net could’ve been cast and they could have taken their time negotiating a deal. Waiting until a week before the regular season shows me they were not interested in taking their time. Teams would kill to be able to draft an elite pass rusher. We drafted a HoFer and fucked it all up. Someone said on ESPN this morning, this is a take the keys from your elderly parent moment, and he’s absolutely right. The fact that the old bastard kept calling him Michael during the press conference makes him look considerably worse than Al Davis. This is comically bad. After he dies, if he doesn’t outlive me, I will reinvest myself emotionally, on a probationary basis. If they don’t care about winning, why should I give af?

Plus, right before the draft is when picks are most valuable. The farther you get from the draft, the more value current players have.

I don't care about not adding a 2025 pick. The bigger picture is what's important.

I don't think this is a big secret... players and coaches got frustrated that he played outside the scheme. I remember Broaddus saying one time on his playing more linebacker, that Micah didn't want to do that because it required more film study and classroom work, and he wanted to just rush the passer. Also heard Calvin Watkins on the Ticket today saying he was doing a story on Micah and asked Charles Haley for some input and Haley wouldn't even comment because he said he couldn't get along with him. (At some point they mended things somewhat.)

I don't think Micah is a bad guy at all, but there were lots of comments that he's a different cat.

I like Clark. He's a football player. He loves football. Sounds easy enough, but a lot of these guys just don't give a shit and don't even like football. They like the $$$$.

We need more guys like this dude. Hope he has 4, 5 years left.
