The 1979 and 1983 losses linger because we pissed those games away with dumb mistakes. I unloaded on Danny White after his two redzone interceptions in 1983 in particular, and that recency bias, especially after three successive NFC Championship game losses affected my impression of his whole career.

Frankly we kept him way too long and never even tried to seriously develop our next great QB.
