Ok, my set up at this moment is:
TCL 85-Inch QM85 QLED TV
Denon AVR-S760H 7.2 Ch AVR Receiver
Panasonic DP-UB820-K Streaming 4K Blu Ray Player
Apple TV 4k to handle streaming as it's the best device to process the apps and streaming images (even though my consoles also handle apps) (also, the reason I'm not handling streaming on the TV's native apps is because I want them to play through the receiver, which I could do if I ran everything through the HDMI ARC port, but that port is only 4k 30 hz, and I want to utilize the 4k 60hz HDMI port, but then, that port isn't ARC, so it won't send that audio to the receiver then. So I just got a separate and better device for handling all the streaming apps - Netflix, Apple TV, Disney Plus, etc).
Xbox Series X
Playstation 5
Two Klipsch R-51M Bookshelf Speakers (replaced malfunctioning left and right front speakers)
Existing Klipsch Center and Left and Right Surround Speakers left over from when I moved in (uncertain model).
I'm relatively satisfied.
Sound is good. Great for gaming. UHD Blu Rays look fantastic and I'm not an audiophile, so I'm impressed when I hear the bullets fly by my head in Saving Private Ryan or the jets zoom by in Top Gun Maverick. I had to adjust the audio delay on the Panasonic's input on the receiver to 240ms because apparently for DVDs and such, the audio gets through the receiver to the TV faster than the picture does sometimes, and I was finding on all the DVDs I was hearing the audio and then seeing lips move just SLIGHTLY after and it was bothering the fuck out of me.
I don't have a subwoofer, but I'm not entirely sure I am missing one. Maybe it's something where I don't know what I'm missing till I see it, but I had an all-in-one system previously (much cheaper, it was like $200 for everything, Onkyo brand) and it had a subwoofer, and I don't recall being that much more impressed by it. I would say I'm more impressed on the whole right now (perhaps cause the Klipsch speakers are better in general).
I'd also have to either get an adapter for my receiver so that I could have a blue tooth subwoofer, or, I'd have to have a tech come run another wire in my ceiling to run the sub from the front of the room to the receiver in the closet.
Another thing I'm considering is some sort of IR repeater because some of the remotes don't work if I don't have line of sight, so I have to leave the closet door open if I want to control something with that particular remote. Not the end of the world - the biggest purpose of having everything in the closet is for it to look neat and be out of sight when I want it to be out of sight. I don't care if I have to leave the closet door open when I'm watching a movie, because most of the time it will be night and the room will be dark. What I don't want is to have to have all the equipment permanently sitting out.
Finally: Perhaps this is a function of buying a $1700 85" TV and not a $3500 85" TV, but I do get a lot of motion blurring or judder (not sure of the right term). But if I turn on motion clarity or anything meant to fix that on the TV itself, I get unwatchable soap opera effect.
The motion blur is annoying and distracting in fast moving scenes, but the soap opera effect is always present and is way, way more jarring. I guess I have to just put up with the motion blur unless anyone has any other suggestions.
