Who's getting NCAA 26?

And don't procrastinate this year, assholes -- let's do a league if we get enough participants!

I have 25 but not sure I can justify paying again for the same game
There's actually a significant amount of improvements and new features in this game and it's better all around.

If you're one of those people who loves presentation stuff, then you're really gonna be happen with what they did.

Between the 2800 new plays (the most ever introduced into an EA football game), the new dynamic lighting system, the new custom field intros for all the teams, the new recruiting and dynasty features, along the gameplay improvements, and that makes for a pretty massive update that I think justifies the purchase.

I just downloaded it. I saw that you had it as well and came here to ask your initial thoughts on this one compared to CFB25.

I may be able to sneak in a game or two tonight, but I'll be heading out of town tomorrow morning. I won't get a chance to properly jump into the game until Monday afternoon.

It's an improvement all around from last year.

Enjoy it while it lasts because once it becomes an established franchise again and an automatic buy? The jumps in quality and the improvements will greatly diminish.

But for now, it's a great game of football.

You're probably right about that.

The first few iterations of the game will probably include a lot of features and improvements based on user feedback. Eventually they're going to get to a point where they will just throw it into auto-pilot like they did with Madden.

I've heard the recruiting is way harder and the transfer portal too.

Which that is one thing I didn't like about 25, there was kinda no way to game the system to keep underclassmen from leaving early. But I know that's cheesing it, but I don't care, I like to have a super team of upper classmen.

If suddenly a quarter of the team was trying to transfer every year, I'd have to spend a lot of time loading and re-loading manual saves until my pitches to get them to stay worked.

I guess it depends on what school you play with. I could see where a team with lower prestige would struggle retaining talent.

I had a dynasty set up with Oklahoma in CFB25 and I was able to successfully keep players from transferring or turning pro more times than not.

Unless I missed it, they still don't let you set formation subs in the pause menu.

It sucks that you have to set up your player/formation packages with a running clock.
Yeah, I don't understand why this so difficult and why you haven't been able to do something for years that you could go on the Madden games from 20 years ago.

What do you think of the game so far compared to last year's?
It's a solid upgrade, IMO.

You can tell they put a lot of time into the tackling animations. It's by far the most accurate depiction of tackling I've ever seen from a video game.

Also, I love the pass catching animations. Love that you can basically throw jump balls where the WRs box out DBs and go straight up for the catch like they're grabbing a rebound.

I play on All-American and had to adjust the sliders from the default settings because literally every QB I played against would complete over 90% of the passes.

The defense's AI also seems to struggle covering passes in the middle of the field.

I just started a dynasty with Eastern Michigan yesterday, so I can't offer up a good opinion of this year's dynasty mode compared to last year. One thing that I did notice is scheduling a visit consumes fewer hours. Last year it cost 40 hours. This year it's only 15.

Another thing I really like is how when teams run hurry-up against you, you can jump into any defensive formation of your choosing. For instance if I had a 4-3 package out there on 1st down, I can have those 4-3 personnel line up in a 4-2-5 formation if the opponent goes no-huddle on 2nd down. I don't recall that ever being an option before.

Yeah man, it's such a great game.

It's certainly not without its flaws but no game ever will be. But what's refreshing about this game compared to the Madden games and other sports games in recent years is that it's dedicated to the single player experience.

That means their focus is on accuracy whether that be the presentation, the style of play schools use, or the realism in the flow of a game.

I love how one game is a shootout that I win 35-31 and the next is a 16-13 defensive struggle.

And it's cool playing Oregon and watch them try to no huddle your ass to death then you play A&M and Reed just scrambles and bleeds you for yards.

This is the greatest single player sports experience ever. I hope it never changes.
