I'm surprised Winfrey never made it in the NFL because he is talented, but I think it was attitude/work ethic that held him back.

Maybe someone like him grows up eventually, I dunno. But he's not an untalented slug.

Yeah he is certainly a very interesting dude. It's absolutely something upstairs. Physically he is a very gifted dude. But frankly so was David Irving. Winfrey is still only 24 years old so he still has some time to mature and fix his career. I'm glad we are giving him a workout. Maybe a badass D-line coach can figure him out or the right team culture can get him in line and suddenly he fullfills some of that potential. Of course odds are after two teams failed to figure him out, the third probably isn't going to either. Great example of one of those guys you think is a fourth round steal and wonder how in the hell he fell that far but in reality you don't really know the guys life outside of what you see on the field. And all that baggage is why he has gone nowhere.

Booze is getting sucked in and Simp is just one more practice away from talking about the SB.
We were 3rd in the league in sacks last year with Parsons out for several games and Chauncey Golston as our 3rd best DL. Then we added an edge rusher that I thought should've gone in the 20's, I've had these thoughts about the pass rush for a while now.

The key, as it was under Quinn that we generally failed to do in bigger games, is forcing teams into 2nd and 8, 3rd and 6, etc. consistently.

I'm intrigued but I will say to temper my enthusiasm, much of the talent we have at pass rusher is relatively unproven at this level.
Somewhat, but we have a probable future HOF'er edge rusher in his prime, an interior rusher who was at the top of the league in QB hits last year, and another guy who had double digit sacks last year.

We're going to have an excellent pass rush one way or the other barring injuries, the only question is will it be one of the better ones in the league if Eze takes time to develop, or will it be the best in the league if he is ready to go right out the gate.

Around the 2022-23 timeframe my biggest complaint was that we lacked another top level edge rusher opposite Parsons. We had Lawrence and Armstrong who were mostly push the pocket/power rushers, and arguably better on the interior, and Fowler who isn't a guy you count on long term as your 2nd best edge rusher.

We were always lacking another explosive guy off the edge who could really bend, beat OT's right off the snap and push for double digit sacks. The type of guy who could feast off the edge with offenses focused on Parsons. I hoped Williams could be that but he's obviously an idiot, Eze will be that guy, it's just a matter of if it'll be week 1, week 8 or week 15.

Kneeland will be similar to a Lawrence (late career)/Armstrong type player, and I could easily see him being as good as those guys as soon as this year.

But until proven otherwise Fowler is currently our 2nd best pass rusher and without Quinn I'm not entirely clear what we can count on from him.

Yea that's why I said it depends on how quickly EZ gets up to speed.

But Fowler put up 10 sacks last year as the best edge rusher on the Skins, now he's playing opposite Parsons, so even if EZ takes half a season to get acclimated our rush should still be one of the best in the league.

This is Ernie we're talking about, so I'm not sure if Dak said something that arrogant.

I can't think of a more captivating Cowboys question than will Dak wear a sleeve on one arm or not.

Per Grok:

Dak Prescott, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback, confirmed he’ll continue wearing his single sleeve during games despite the NFL's $12,500 fine per violation. Referencing his status as the league’s highest-paid player with a four-year, $240 million contract extension signed in September 2024, Prescott quipped, “Am I or am I not the highest paid player in the league? Yeah, the single sleeve is staying on.” The sleeve, which he wears to honor his late brother Jace who died in 2020, has been a point of contention due to the NFL’s uniform policy. Posts on X show mixed fan reactions, with some praising his defiance and others criticizing the NFL’s rule enforcement.

Watched the BS pc today and he's such a likable guy, but man, he sure talks a lot about how much he loves these guys. Maybe I'm too old school but I can see that not working at all if things go a little south. Wish he'd be a little more of the boss type, because I think he could do that without losing them.

Football wise, he does see genuinely excited about the hyphen TE, and about Beebe. Said he was great last year at the protections etc for never playing center before, but last year Dak would disagree and call him off protections sometimes, and now Dak just goes with him. I can't help wondering that isn't a good thing.

With great WR targets on the field, Dak could make a star out of boozeman at TE, so I'm not worried about Ferguson. No QB has been more efficient leveraging TE's.

Whoever's in there is going to have a good season if they're healthy.

Same trap as always, left hoping we score a lot on the other side of the ball.
I think we'll be better under Eberflus than we were under Quinn, who often seemed to consider stopping the run an afterthought. I'm not sure if that'll be good enough against the best competition, but still.
