The interesting thing about this is that it seems like they were very focused on adding a bigger X receiver who can win outside the numbers while letting Lamb continue to float, usually in the slot.

They were going to take McMillan who fits that exact description, they supposedly sniffed around Bateman, and now they make this deal.

It makes sense because Lamb is at his best in the slot, but I just wonder if it tainted how they rated Golden and Egbuka who clearly do not fit that mold.

Coming into this offseason I started a thread about how if I was running things my focus would be on supporting the two truly elite talents on the roster, Parsons and Lamb, and how important it was to add guys who could take pressure off of them.

For Parsons I envisioned that coming in the form of another legit pass-rusher, either off the edge or on the interior, and I think they did that with EZ even if it might take a bit of time as it normally does for rookies.

For Lamb I envisioned it coming in the form of another playmaker that defenses have to account for, whether RB, WR or even TE (Warren), and I just assumed after the draft that this would be one of those holes that they always seem to have coming out of the offseason that they sort of just hope works out.

So from that perspective I'll give them credit for rolling the dice on Pickens even if I wouldn't have given up more than a 4.

Let's just hope that sharing the WR room with one of the best WR's in the league chills him out a bit, because he strikes me as a guy who won't respect anything except guys who are more talented than he is.

I just wonder if a guy like Pickens believes CeeDee is more talented than he is. He may not.

And just for the record, of course even skeptics like me love his talent. The talent is obvious for everyone to see. I'm sure he'll have a few Stay Down BIznatch moments on CBs. The question is can he act right and will the problems be worth it. I seriously doubt it. If he can, then of course his talent helps the team.

I'm sure he'd tell the media he thinks he's the best WR in the league, as probably about 1/3rd of the WR's in the league would, but unless he has a legit learning disability I'm sure he knows deep down what the situation is with Lamb.

I mean you need a certain amount of cockiness to be a great receiver in the NFL.

In the not so distant past, the Steelers have had trouble with WRs Antonio Brown, JuJu Smith Schuster, Chase Claypool, Dionte Johnson, and George Pickens. Are they just that adept at drafting meathead WRs, or is there maybe something toxic within the organization/WR room that is bringing out the worst in these guys?

I could also see part of the rationale behind this move being the internal timeline they have on Dak.

I'd imagine they're looking at a 2-3 year window with Dak before they seriously consider moving on, if you draft a rookie even in the first it's a tossup whether or not that guys takes a year or two to be a strong WR2, and at that point you might only have a year or two of overlap with Dak.

A bit short-sighted of course but I think that probably played in a bit as well.

Steelers or Cowboys? :unsure
Steelers obviously.

Ww are talking about why Dallas would do the deal and if you are getting in Jerry’s head, he always wants them to be in the mix.

it’s not how I would do things but I will say if the defense is better and now that we’ve added a legit WR, and if Javonte is healthy, they’ll be the same 11-6 caliber second round playoff exit team they have been recently. Also pending if the new head coach sucks or not.

Considering how those guys were so successful after they left... :tippytoe

I mean we clearly think we can run with the big boys. You don't make the move if you're rebuilding.
I think this move could very easily bump us over the Skins in the division, and potentially get us nearly even with the Eagles depending on how a few things go. We need a little bit of injury luck or regression with Barkley (which should happen given his age) but I think people are overlooking how badly the Eagles DL was hit and how little they did to backfill Sweat and Williams.

I never bought that the Skins were much better than us in the first place and adding an elite WR2 might be enough to tip the scales.

I think it has a lot to do with the QB in the room. When you have Roethlisberger you can make it work. When you have Justin Fields, it goes to shit.
