Sounds like DLaw maybe wasn't that liked in the locker room...
I always thought him and Parsons were fighting with the comments during the season.

I agree. And sure you might find a fifth round RB who is a really good player. But the fact that you are ok with waiting that long would tell me you're not serious about RB. You just simply can not let all those talented RBs pass and bank on one of them falling to the fifth.

That's why I'm all for the double dipping. We still have like 3 fifth round picks. Odds are in this draft, RB will have some of the most talented guys still left by then. Better to take a guy who I think can be a starting RB as opposed to another Waletzko or something.

That's the big issue in waiting til the 5th. There might be a lot of good options left when we pick in the third, so we feel safe passing on RB at that point.

But then 2 full rounds go by without us picking. There could very well be nobody good left by the 5th and now we're drafting the next Deuce Vaughn.

Exactly. Signing Barnes and Sanders almost makes me think they plan on waiting in the draft and this is their hedge in case things break like last year where we missed out. Which makes some sense, but the problem is nether of these guys will be as good as that rookie would be. So I hope they still make an effort and almost act like we don't have these signees on the team.

That's really my big worry.

RB may be relatively easy to find an at least decent one, but it's so enormously important to not miss out on one that I think it's almost essential that they take one early.

I'd feel fairly comfortable waiting til the 4th round but of course we don't have one of those for some stupid reason.

I'd actually be pretty comfortable trading down in the first and take a Hampton later in the first while adding additional premium picks.

Rosie Jones: “If I sign two running backs who top out at 3.5 yards a carry, that’s what? 2 times 3 plus 1/2 plus another 1/2? Charolette, what’s that go up to? 6.5.5? Dad!!!!!!!, I found a way to always get first downs and it’s cheap!!!!!!!! 100% first downs on 2nd down every time, DAD!!!!!”

Grok still doesn't seem to know what Stephen Jones looks like.

Thanks Elon!

The fifth round you sure as shit shouldn't be drafting for need any longer. That's really the simple answer. It's a round you clean up in by taking guys you thought should already be gone. It's like I think we have gotten some really good corners in the fifth. Bland was a fifth, Scandrick I think was a fifth.

But you can't bank on it either. And the fourth is such a great spot for RB that missing that round entirely hurts a lot. So I'm on board with a trade down because it probably recoups more than a fourth. More likely a second or third. But I'm still not thrilled about Hampton in the first. I don't have anything bad to say about him. I think he will be Najee Harris with 1000 yards every season for his rookie contract. And then you want to move on before the wheels fall off.

I do not think four years from now that Hampton will be viewed as the second best RB in this class. But I think he is a safe bet to be rock solid.

A lot of teams "making pushes" out here, seems like they are indeed negotiating through the media.

It's funny because as soon as he was released they came out and said that Kupp wanted to make a quick decision and not drag things out, but here we are.
My guess is they are not getting the interest they thought he would.

Rappaport saying that Cupp will get at least 12 per.

Fuckin inbreds in Dallas were probably like....12 thousand?
To be clear I don't think we will sign any of them. But of the remaining WR free agents do you think Kupp is the best?

Stefon Diggs (31)
Amari Cooper (31)
Kupp (32)
Keenan Allen (33)
Tyler Lockett (32)

They all kind of feel the same to me. Once really great WR's who are at the very end of their careers. You're just hoping to milk one more year out of them to help bring along your younger WR's. I won't get excited about signing any of them though just because I don't think they are really that good. Maybe 700-800 yard guys.

And frankly there are other free agents at other positions I'd rather have if the team were actually willing to open up the pocketbook a little. Asante Samuel JR, Mike Hilton, Teven Jenkins, Azeez Ojulari, Jedrick Wills. But I have an adversity to the 1 year deals on guys about to retire.

I think Kupp and Diggs are probably the top two, followed by Allen not too far behind, then Lockett and probably Cooper last.

And not even a 20 million a year guy. But they can't even do a 10 a year guy?
Exactly.

I know they don't care, but I just don't know how you can say with a straight face that you're doing all that you can to win when you haven't signed a true pro bowl caliber player in their prime in ages.

They don't even try to sign those types.

Kind of funny how many, oddly similar, WRs are available right now. Obviously they are all different to some degree but all are of similar age and similarly great careers that are coming to an end.

According to Spotrac Solomon Thomas only signed a 2/6 deal, so I guess that's something.

And we should still have at least $30-35M in space, would be nice to do something with at least some of that.
