Has started 30 games and I can honestly tell you nothing about the guy.

I will say, I hate how we use free agency for nothing but 1 year deals. Like is there no one worth wanting to add to your team beyond a one year prove it deal? These moves literally never benefit us long term.

And every year we are replacing these guys with more guys of similar ilk.
Not to mention you could get a much better player on a 3-4 year deal with a first year cap hit of $7.5M, compared to two guys in Williams and Jones who have the same cap hit because they're on one year deals.

Just more examples of how these guys either don't know how to manage the cap, or don't want to spend big money on the roster, or both.

Yep you push the majority of that cap charge off and cut them before it's done. Barkley's cap hit this year? Only 6.6 mil. So 2026 I guess becomes a little more painful at 9.8 mil. And 2027 when it's 13 mil. He will never see those 2028 and 2029 seasons where he will be cut and they have around 8.5 mil in dead cap.

Basically it's a massive contract and the guy will still never count more than 13 mil in any given season. Our burger boy cap guy can't seem to think in terms of more than one season.

Golston gets 3/19.5 from the Giants.

That's a bit higher than I would've went but when you consider his year 1 cap hit is probably somewhere around $4M (i.e. the same as this Rob Jones guy who is going to be our 3rd-4th OG), it doesn't seem as bad.

Stephen literally said that we're going to have to add to the DL during FA so it'd be cool if they would sign someone better than fucking Olawale Jones over here.

First year cap charge between the two guys we signed is what 8 mil.

Dre Greenlaw for example will probably count less this year than that. Or pick another free agent name you would have liked to see us sign.

Now maybe Robert Jones surprises and he is your starting RG. But honestly he started 17 games last year for the Dolphins and I don't think he was a good starter. They wanted to upgrade from him. He gave up like 5 sacks and 7 penalties. Supposedly a better run blocker than pass defender but he looks to me like a backup Olineman.

Is a backup RB and a backup guard (tackle) more valuable then a legit starter for multiple years at a position of need? This is why I hate our free agent approach.

I think Jones is basically our answer to losing Edoga, with the idea of moving Smith out to LT if needed, with Jones giving you cover at LG.

But yea, that's why I said they're either too dumb to realize how to manipulate the cap or they don't want to spend money on longer term deals, because in no world are Javonte Williams and Rob Jones as impactful as signing one legitimate starter like Dalvin Tomlinson or Harold Landry, or even re-signing someone like Lewis.

I think that's it. The guaranteed money on a long term deal hurts their pocket too much. These one year deals are cheaper in terms of actual cash which is what these cheapasses actually care about. Landry for example got what, 26 mil guaranteed? That's the part the Cowboys are unwilling to do in free agency.

But hey, we get to carry 52 mil in cap space over to next year. How cool is that?

Lost Golston and Lewis and signed a backup RB. Luckily they haven’t squandered any draft picks.

jones and the entire Dolphins OL was trash in general. And of course we lost Golston. Not much to look forward to this season when all you get from the retards in charge are garbage pail level FA signings and rookies from the draft.

They freed up all this space for something. Just to resign our own guys? I don't get it. Signing Micah will create more space. Smith and Bland and Turpin? There has to be more. A trade or two?

They're going to do more and sign (or trade for) better players than these first two. I'm specifically expecting a borderline starter or two on the DL (DeMarcus Walker?) and maybe a starting WR (Kupp) and/or LB (EJ Speed).

They just love slowassing everything they do because there's no real sense of urgency when the people running the show can't be fired.

Only thing on Jones is, supposedly he wasn't a fit for their heavy zone scheme and we'll do more man stuff here.

My biggest hope is that he's someone Adams picked out. Adams seems to be our best new hire, so if he's behind this I'll give it a chance.
