You'd think someone like Mac Engel would know better.
We definitely won't "sign anyone" during the tampering period. Not sure we ever have. Maybe we will resign someone. Like Golston or Dowdle or something. I'd say Lewis but someone else actually went after him.

External guys? I never had that hope at the jump of free agency.

Some random rotational DT named Bobby Brown III got 3/21, so I'm guessing that's roughly about what Golston will get.

The Eagles losing both Sweat and Williams is pretty nice, they were 2nd and 4th on the team in snap counts for their DL.

Right now their 3rd and 4th best DL are Jordan Davis (non-pass rusher) and maybe Brandon Graham, who might be retiring? Some guy named Moro Ojomo?

I'm sure they'll somehow coerce the Bengals into trading them Hendrickson for like a 2026 3rd, but at the moment their DL is looking pretty rough.

He'd be a nice 4th CB but you can't count on him as one of your top 3 guys unless you're not actually trying to win.
Yeah I figured maybe as a third corner corner backup option if Carson just flat out blows.

But we aren't signing a good starting corner. If we were I'd want Byron Murphy or Asante Samuel. But like you said, that's not happening.

The CB market is drying up pretty quick with Ward now signing with the Colts.

As an aside, 20M/year seems to be about what it'll take for Bland based on these signings.

Kristian Fulton might be a decent Stephen-priced signing.

Yep the top guys left would be Byron Murphy and Asante Samuel Jr. I actually really like Byron Murphy. I'd sign him over some of these other guys very easily. But my guess is he wants to get paid. Asante Samuel Jr. might just be sitting around because he is coming off an injury. Those always take additional time to check out.

Kristian Fulton probably is the next best option still available after those two.

Then you get down into the Rasul Douglas, Stephon Gilmore, Mike Hilton and Mike Jackson types (Hey, remember when we drafted him? Yep he has been starting games still in the NFL).

Murphy is going to get somewhere close to 20/year, absolutely 0% chance we pay that.

I could see Fulton as one of the higher end options (for Stephen) but someone like Jackson seems way more likely.

Yeah we won't pay that ever on a free agent. Plus Bland is in the works to get that kind of money right now and Diggs already got paid.

I just wish if the alternative was to blow a first or second round pick at corner, then you sure as shit should save the draft pick and spend the money. And part of it depends on what you think the future is for Diggs and Carson. Is Carson going to be good enough to be a nickle eventually? Is Diggs here long term or are you about done with him. If you're looking for someone to fill in until Diggs comes back that is different then if you're looking at needing a guy to start for multiple years.
