As much as I’d hate to admit it, Nodak has a point. If this isn’t even entertainment anymore, what is it? It’s not healthy, that’s for sure. There was a point earlier in the year when I had a game on and my 8 year daughter said “we’re rooting for the cowboys!”, I didn’t hesitate to tell her “no, you don’t have to do that, pick another team.”.

There was a time in my youth, pre-fatherhood, when I imagined what it might be like to root for my team with my kids like I used to with my Dad. Those times are so special to me even today. It’s gotten so bad that I don’t want that shit for myself or for my kids. It’s not like I’m raising two football fans anyway, my girls couldn’t give less of a shit about the game either way, but it’s definitely an eye opener for me.

There was a stint during the Garrett era where I only came here because this place is special because of the guys who we’ve spent decades getting to know. I love you all. In a weird way I really do, and maybe that’s gay, and who gives a shit if it is?

McCarthy sucked me back in for a few years, but I don’t have it in me to care enough to stick around and be a drag to those that actually still care.
That’s why I was MIA from the 1st quarter of the playoff game until October. Didn’t have it in me to care either way.

I enjoy football. Don’t get caught up in college much. Have always rooted for the cowboys and it feels wrong rooting for anyone else. This place is the only sane place I have found to talk football. Good mix of people who love the team no matter what and some that have been tortured by Jerry for too long.

The Jones’ sabotaged Wade Phillips. They tried to do the same thing to McCarthy.

They won’t dupe another high profile coach again.
Exactly right. I think as soon as Jerry started trying to push Witten on him was when he walked away. Seen that movie before and knew the ending.

Now wait. If we do hire Kellen Moore then maybe we can find out what the hell this play was:

Probably Jerry just blathering about his kids.
In the normal world, a two hour interview with someone you already know extremely well means it was more of a plan being presented than a normal interview.

Quick google search

There are rules to length of interviews for NFL head coaching positions. The limit is 3 hours, with most of them taking around 2 hours or so. There is little actual "interviewing" going on, as pretty much everything is already known by both the team and the coach about each other. Most of the time is spent discussing what kind of staff they'd want to put together, schemes they'd run, and how it would fit the team and personnel already in place.

Of course, that is the normal process, a lot is about your design, your staff and how you fit into the current state of the football team. Moore is on a more intimate level since he has coached here, so there is no discussion of fit. That length of time tells me he is probably it, with the two coming in will be interviewing for DC for all practical purposes.

I'm not going to pretend like I know what was or wasn't discussed. But the length of time of his interview is right in line with probably every other coaches interview time with every other team. I'd be more worried if the interview time was short. Just a quick "The job is yours, we just gotta appease the masses with a few more bullshit interviews ~wink wink~"

My only hope with the inevitable Moore hire is that they pair him with a strong DC (Zimmer, Frazier, Dennis Allen or maybe even Eberflus) and then maybe we can ride a strong defense and Jeanty (best believe he'll be the pick under Moore) to being relatively competitive.

Kind of similar to what you're seeing with the Eagles right now, strong defense, strong running game, so-so passing game.
