I’m not talking about that. Talk shit. Bitch about the stupid things done by our front office. I’m talking about actually hoping the team fails. What is the point of remaining a fan if that is so? About being so miserable it’s no longer just entertainment.
If your theory is that we will never win anything with a Jones owning the team, then I see no point in hoping the team fails. I could see hoping the team fails so that sweeping changes are made. So that maybe the owner realizes the error of his ways. I mean three straight 5-11 seasons absolutely made the Cowboys go out of their comfort zone. So I could see the short term burn for long term gain theory. Sort of like I wanted to lose games down the stretch this year for the higher draft pick.

But if you're hoping that losing games is going to get rid of a Jones running this team, that's never going to happen. So you're basically rooting for epic failure the rest of your life. You might as well become a fan of another team and just hate the Cowboys like most people who aren't Cowboys fans.

This is what I'm alluding to. Why am I still here? Because I still have hope. But it's hard for me to root for this team in its current state. Clearly, they're never going to sell the team.

Just curious if any of you think he has a breaking point? He has to, right?

The team has been failing. The team has bottomed out in the past. Were sweeping changes made? Not even close.

The only time anything even close to that happened was when Jerry needed support for his stadium. And even then, it was back to business as usual within a few short years.

And I don't see us needing a new stadium any time in the future.

I think (or hope) that father time hastens his decisions to change the error of his ways. That's really all we have.

Jerry's known his end is drawing near. And if anything, he's doubled down on doing it his way. Hell, look how cheap we've become. How he's basically thumbed his nose at doing it any other way than "his way." People can blame Stephen for us being cheap. But like we always hear, Jerry has final decision. So he's obviously signing off on it.

Once he's gone maybe, MAYBE Stephen hires a GM. But I wouldn't get your hopes up too much about loosening the purse strings in FA. But then again... maybe.

That simultaneously is absolutely ridiculous and inexcusable, and not at all surprising.

These dumbasses thought they could squeeze McCarthy and he'd just take it, and had no other plan other than McCarthy coming back.

It's unfathomably dumb to not be prepared for every contingency and at the same time exactly how they do everything.
The sad part is how NOT surprising them not having a plan is.

I still don't believe Jerry thinks this way. He's a pathological over-optimist. He's lived a charmed life. He's had no major health issues so far.

And he knows he has an endless string of healthy hobo organs to sustain him.

I think there is a good chance Stephen would hire a GM. But you're right, that doesn't mean he is going to open the purse strings. I think he has always had the cheap mentality. I don't see that changing. And he has none of the desire for flash that Jerry has.

There will be no "Jerry banner" when he croaks. Only his family will mourn him. You'd think he'd shake things up to see one more championship before going to his reward, but you'd be wrong.

Jerry's a lot of things, but he's not stupid. He knows he's 82 years old. He knows he doesn't have a lot of time left.
He might expect to live until he's 95, which could mean 8-9 years before he has to turn over the reins.

And that could very well happen.

I'm just saying, the super-successful (financially) often don't think like the rest of us.

My hope is that because he's so cheap that he and the rest of the Jones goofs decide to sell the team because getting a billion for the Cowboys would sure go a long way into improving your financial situation.

I know Jerry would never sell it, but I'm hoping Stephen will at least open to it since he's really only in this for the money anyway.

I agree with this, but I also think there's a world where we compete for Super Bowls despite Stephen's cheapness, but with Jerry's bullshit culture presumably gone.

We have one of the best regular season records over the last decade and on paper have been one of the top 5ish teams in the league probably 3-4 times. It's still stupid but I could see things coming together without Jerry's nonsense here or there.

Did you know that there's a species of jellyfish called the Turritopsis dohrnii, commonly known as the "immortal jellyfish"? This fascinating creature has the ability to revert back to its juvenile polyp stage after reaching maturity, essentially allowing it to bypass death from old age. Here's how it works:

When the jellyfish encounters stress or injury, it can transform its cells back into a younger state, essentially reversing its life cycle.
This process is called transdifferentiation, where one type of cell directly transforms into another type, without going through an intermediate stem-cell state.

This phenomenon has caught the attention of scientists worldwide, not only for its biological uniqueness but also for potential medical implications, like understanding cellular rejuvenation. However, despite its nickname, the jellyfish isn't truly immortal; it can still die due to predation, disease, or other external factors.
