Good player, but struggled with injury. Missed this whole season, and parts of others. Ball hawk that is also good in run support. Started as a LBer. If he can stay healthy, you’ll like him.

Imagine being so tired of being mentioned with Dallas that you take a job at UNC

In case @booze missed it...

THEY MET EVERY week, Bill Belichick and a handful of his former assistants with the New England Patriots. Matt Patricia, Michael Lombardi, Josh McDaniels, to name a few, men with whom he had won Super Bowls, all of them out of work.

I don't think it's a matter of them questioning his ability, it sounds more like arrogance on the part of the owners/GM's and an unwillingness to cede control to him.

And I actually agree, Belichick shouldn't have full control, but if he was truly willing to share control then I think it comes down to an ego thing with owners/GM's who don't want to be overshadowed by a guy who will undoubtedly want to do things "his way" rather than play ball when push comes to shove.

The NFL is a good old boys network at heart and it seems that Belichick has been cut out.

I wouldn't have hated McDaniels as OC, but Patricia...

At any rate, it might be worth it if the staff was basically just going to be a bunch of old friends of Bill and his son, although it's not like the dumbo Jones will do much better.

The author didn't make sense in one way, in that he said Belichick made it clear to people (like Jerry) that he didn't need full control... but then says a big key in going to college was that he wanted a place where he could be king of everything.

Also, it was funny, Mike was asked about this yesterday and he said hadn't heard it yet. He said he wished BB the best, he was a great coach, etc... but then said all his college coaching friends were telling him with this new NIL stuff they all wanted into the NFL.

Yea that sort of doublespeak may have been the main part of everyone's hesitation. He may have been willing to say he'd share but once push comes to shove he may have tried to use his reputation to strongarm FO's into deferring to him.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kraft kinda torpedoed some of this too.

@Texas Ace

Ewers is thinking about staying.

😆
I don't think it matters.

I think Sark is letting him finish the season, but there's ZERO chance he goes in to next season as the starter.

It's Manning's team in 2025.
