I'm a defense contractor, I've been one since I retired. I can tell you what I know, and that's that there's a LOT of resentment toward him and his constant bashing of the military.

Your article of course doesn't tell you anything about the current feelings of veterans toward Trump, which is pretty bad. I will tell you this... he didn't gain a whole lot of supporters from the military while he was in office.
And I lived many years right by Fort Bragg/Liberty and they are all Republicans and Trump backers there, the biggest army base in the country. It, like your experience, is entirely anecdotal, though mine from a much larger sample size I'd bet.

The numbers are hard to pin down to an exact degree but literally any measurement you CAN find says that veterans are unquestionably right-leaning and that hasn't experienced a significant downturn since Trump has been at the top of the ticket.

You are off the reservation on this. Many vets probably find him odious, as I do, but you have latched onto a few bad qualities and blow them out of proportion. He's not Ronald Reagan, but he is better than most of the other politicians of the last 20 years and certainly better than all the Democrats as far as anything you accuse him of (lying, scandals, etc).

And, of course, you are simply wrong if you are implying the military doesn't support him... because any facts you can find say that they do.

Prior to the multi-failed businessman in 2016, it was a small group. I would say when he ran in 2016 he had quite a bit of support from both active duty and retired communities.

However right now the majority of veterans that I talk to have decided not to choose between two shit sandwiches and hope there are better options in 4 years. You can't tell me that all the shit he's talked about the military hasn't lost him a big chunk of veteran support.
There is not a single piece of evidence to support that assertion.

And I can throw a rock (figuratively, but almost literally) from my house into the CIA "Farm" in Williamsburg, VA. Doesn't mean I know wtf they are thinking.

What are you doing, hanging out at the greasy spoon outside the gate and asking people what their political leanings are? Just STFU already.

Are you serious? I live in Miles City, MT and can tell pretty easily what this areas overall political leaning is without actually going up and asking people. Same goes for when I go visit my kids in Missoula. Doesn't take long to figure out. Both places are the polar opposite, which is plainly clear. And I didn't have to ask a single person.

Judging by your overwhelming desire to defend Trump, (not your guy, right?), even to the detriment of your credibility, it's not a stretch to say that you see what you want to see.

Yeah, I think Irv is very wrong on this. When you live in a community or visit a place it's not that difficult to see what the majority are thinking. You don't have to take a poll to know what people's political opinions are. Most make it pretty obvious.

It isn’t Harris that has to be dealt with in this election it is the mindset of the democratic voter. Harris is an easy target but a democrat voter will remain a democrat voter until the grave. It doesn’t matter who is running for the office. If they are a democrat the voters will turn out and elect them . They are just blind to the facts of a candidate. All they are is just a vote. The best hope of defeating Harris or anyone else is for the democratic voter to not vote. Now how screwed up is that?

I wish it was like that in the Dallas suburbs. Plano, Frisco, and McKinney are pretty blurry politically, but it's like what you described in California. You can tell the reasonable counties (Orange, Ventura, Riverside, San Bernardino, etc.) from the unreasonable ones (Los Angeles, Santa Clara, San Francisco, etc). It's really obvious. Unfortunately, the liberal counties have higher populations, so it poisons the entire state.

The majority of Montana is conservative. But over the last 20 years or so, cities like Missoula and Bozeman have turned pretty hard to the left. Easy to figure out why when you realize that those two places are where the states two biggest universities are, and are also the prime targets of out of staters (mainly from California) for buying up property. Purple hair and shaggy armpits running rampant.

What's crazy is these people come here claiming to want the simpler life. To avoid high taxes. To get away from the crime. The fucking decaying of their society. Yet they continue to vote their past shitty states policies in, slowly turning this place into the shithole they left to avoid. It's fucking unbelievable.

They have found their way to Texas too. The border wall is in the wrong place. It needs to be around California.
