What are the Bulls doing? Caruso for Giddy seems unwise.
Caruso is way more valuable to a contending team than a team like the Bulls. He's an elite role player, but that doesn't mean much when you're barely a play-in team, and Giddey is a gamble on a high upside 21 year old.

The Bulls FO are mostly idiots, and they should've traded Caruso when his value was higher either at the trade deadline or last year, but that's all a sunk cost now. I don't think they could've gotten much more than maybe a late lotto pick and I'd honestly rather have Giddey than the 14th pick or whatever in this class.

I would've been pretty thrilled if they could've moved Caruso for Kuminga, and I don't think Giddey is too far off of Kuminga in terms of potential, so it's a solid deal from the perspective of a team that really shouldn't be attempting to be competitive for another 2-3 years.

Yes. But I still think they'd have been better off with picks now than Giddey. Giddey seems to have struggled with his shot this year. I don't think he has much upside left.

Yeah, he may be 21, but it's still a huge red flag when you still can't shoot. Not sure that can ever be learned if you don't have it.

Depends on what the picks would've been, and they should've gotten something additional to Giddey with all the picks OKC has in the first place, but if the choice was a pick in the teens or Giddey, I'm going Giddey.

He shot about 34% on 3 attempts per game last year, there are plenty of guys who continue to improve their shot into years 4 and 5, and if he can just get up to about 37% on 3-4 attempts that's a huge win.

The real key will be for this dumbass FO to actually continue with a soft tank by getting rid of Lavine and hopefully S&T'ing DeRozan. Giddey might not individually work out but it's a solid gamble, and if it signals that they're going to stop with these asinine attempts to win 44 games every year that's an even bigger win.

He's still got plenty of time to improve. There have been quite a few players who turned themselves into capable long range shooters later in their NBA careers.

Lebron, Kidd, Vince Carter are a few that immediately come to mind. Also, before injruies derailed his career, Lonzo Ball made a huge jump in his shooting percentages after the age of 21.

What do you think about it for OKC?

I love the trade for the Thunder. He's a true three and D guy who defenses can't ignore.

Giddey's inability to shoot was the primary reason they lost to the Mavs.

OKC essentially lost a starter for the entire series because he was such a liability on offense and defense which made him unplayable. Caruso immediaely fixes both of those issues.

If OKC can land a big man in free agency I like their chances of making it out of the West next season.

So far this offseason I've seen a ton of articles linking them to Hartenstein and Nic Claxton. I'd prefer Hartenstein out of those two, mainly because he's got a little more bulk/girth.

So far it's all just speculation because Presti never shows his hand. Practically every move he makes comes out of nowhere.

I heard Hardin wants to come back.

The perception of Giddey is currently way too slanted based on what happened in that Dallas series. To me if the Bulls had traded Caruso for Franz Wagner or Keegan Murray they would've been lauded, I think Giddey is more or less on the same level as a player/prospect, but because he wasn't playable under the specific circumstances of the Dallas series the perception has swung way too far towards the negative.

Obviously he has some holes in his game, but if he can just get his 3P% up to about 37-38% he'll be a borderline All Star even if his defense never improves.

But he just didn't have a future in OKC alongside SGA, who is also ball-dominant and an average at best 3-point shooter, while also being a significantly better player of course. If SGA never existed OKC would probably spend the next few years as a 3-5 seed in the West while Giddey operated as a primary ball-handler alongside Williams.

It was a win-win because Giddey didn't fit OKC anymore and they needed to maximize their status as a contender right now, while the Bulls are able to roll the dice on a high upside guy while they do a soft rebuild.

I don't like the Bridges trade for the Knicks either. 5 firsts for a non-all star is a big price to pay.

They're mortgaging everything beyond the next 3-4 years in hopes that they can go on a injury heater one postseason where all of Giannis, Embiid and both Tatum/Brown get hurt while they stay completely healthy.

Of course they'd then need Jokic, Doncic, Edwards or someone along those lines to have suffered some injury once they get to the Finals.

Yeah that's the thing. I like Bridges but I don't think this puts them over the top or anything.

Sorry folks but the Rockets won the draft. The rest of you just get to fight for the 7th seed in the years to come.
