We could "afford" to do anything we want.

It is just sold as otherwise, like oh dagnabbit, that gosh darn salary cap again.

Only so, much pie, etc.

They want to somehow luck into a Super Bowl by continuing to do exactly what they have always done.

And if they don't make it, it might take a stern look in the mirror or perhaps even screaming into a pillow for a night but things are okay soon thereafter.
Like I've said, gassing up that big boat ain't cheap.

Things are right again in Oxnard as the multitudes come running back.

Yep. A mere two months after being unceremoniously whipped at home by a mediocre 9-8 team in the playoffs we are right back to the same mentality we always have.

As God is our witness it will work this time!

Jewell would be my number one target in FA.

We need LB, WR or DT off the needs list prior to the draft unless we intend to trade down. That void between the 4th until our picks in the 5th is huge.
Mine too, I think he fit exactly what we need at LBer without the flashy expensive contract. I love Grover Stewart from the Colts but that's probably too much to ask.

Since for all intents and purposes FA starts in 12 hours, I'm going to say that a normal team under our circumstances would probably do something like this:

Re-sign Gilmore, Pollard, Hankins internally, and externally sign Eric Kendricks, Grover Stewart, Josey Jewell and DJ Wonnum.

Instead we'll get the Stephen blue light special of Leki Fotu, Oren Burks, Yetur Gross-Matos, Anthony Barr, Linval Joseph.

I'm not even going to set myself up for disappointment.

If you expect a nice FA haul then you are literally insane. You know, doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.
