I don't understand what you mean by this. We had 44 rushing attempts today.

I do agree our running game needs to be better, tho.
I didn't realize this but I did say I wasn't sure what it was. Just seems off somehow. Guess it's just a simple execution issue.

I would say. Holding a Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook to a combined 16 yards. Wow
It helps that the Jets only gave Breece Hall 4 touches. Yikes!

Massive fail by their OC.

Understandably Hall was not happy about only getting 4 touches in the game.

Playing with our 3rd string guard didn't help things either. Bass looked like he didn't belong on the same field as Quinnen Williams. I didn't expect much from him, but damn, at least be a speed bump and not just let guys run freely into the backfield.

To be fair to the jets oc, they only ran like 40 total plays on offense and a lot of it was in must pass situations because of score, down and distance.

Yeah hard to run the ball when you can't convert third downs. And then of course you get to the fourth quarter down by 3 scores and you kind of have to pass the ball. You're just out of time.

But their scores basically came from 2 things. One long pass where our DBs should have made the tackle. And a drive before half where their QB basically scrambled up the middle over and over to get in field goal range. That was really about it.

Tony Romo annoyed the hell out of me yesterday with all the unnecessary slurping of Zack Martin.

Romo had multiple orgasms on the most routine plays Martin was involved in. There was ever a couple of plays where Martin barely touched a guy and Romo would freak out like he'd just pancaked the guy.

That's another way of saying you don't trust your $40M quarterback. When the game was still in doubt and we were trying to score touchdowns, we couldn't. The game was still up for grabs when he almost threw the pick six, missed Fergy for an easy TD, and did nothing with the possession after the Parsons fumble recovery. That's why I said we were lucky that we didn't need him to make more plays, because he seemed incapable of doing do.
I liked the conservative approach, but I thought it was a little too conservative mainly in the passing game. Lots of E and W passes that didn’t go anywhere.

The running game struggled, especially at the goal line and outside of a few bursts here and there that is a bit of a concern considering the stout fronts we have coming up.

Part of the reason the running game wasn't great is much of the game we were way up and the Jets knew we'd be running.

That's exactly where in past years in our Garrett/Kellen "count the box" system we'd check into a pass even though the game situation didn't call for it. Drove me crazy for years how we in effect let the defense dictate what we ran to the point of running inappropriate plays for the time and place. But not anymore.

So we don't get more flashy chunk plays this way... Who cares? We won the game comfortably and didn't turn it over.

We did use the RBs well in the passing game though. 11 passes to the RBs, pretty impressive. All 3 backs caught a pass. And those plays than set up that nice pass to Lamb. Props to the Jets, they played the run well and they tackled extremely well. Seemed like anytime they hit one of our guys they made the tackle on the spot.

I'm hoping that the return of Tyler Smith opens up the run game more. 44 rushing attempts is great but 134 yards out of it is not so great.
3 yds/carry is putrid considering McCarthy is obviously going RB by committee. I don’t have an issue with that except he's missing that big punishing RB to go with the speed backs like he used in GB.

Is it me but does it look like Bass is playing with kicker shoulder pads? Didn't look like there was anything to them.

Two games without a Dak pick is noteworthy.

I think Cooks is legit. But without him Tolbert looked better than Gallup. That's not a good sign for the supposed bounce back year for Gallup. We need Cooks back. Lamb was awesome but we need more. The good news is I think we have 3 RBs who are really good at catching the ball.
It’s like Gallup isn’t even on the field. Maybe the knee injury will F him for the rest of his career. He sure looks timid at times running his routes.

tolbert did outplay Gallup yesterday, and looks to be over the freshman fail.
If Gallup doesn’t start showing up soon, I’m afraid he’s gonna get the Amari treatment.

I thought I read this was the first time he's gone two games in a row without a sack or fumble.

Seems kind of hard to believe, but maybe that's true. He did have a stretch early on where he fumbled a lot.

I love Gallup but he’s not (at this point) that acrobatic physical WR he was before the knee injury. You are right, if the disappearing act continues they’ll free up some cap space by sending him down the road.

Bass still held his own. Asking him to match up on a monster like Williams was a tough ask.

It just looks like he cannot run the kind of routes being asked of him. Or he quite simply can’t separate. Even Tolbert caught three passes.
