But think about this... Even with being mostly conservative, we had put up 24 pts against one of the league's best defenses midway thru the 3rd quarter. And put up 30 total with an offense that was pretty much idling to kill time and run it out from that point on. That is pretty damn good for an offense that is running wide open all game.
If they really wanted to they could have probably hit 40 points again. But going for 40 comes at a risk.

It was pretty clear that the only hope the Jets had for stringing together scores against the Cowboys was if the Cowboys started making mistakes. Which is why McCarthy smartly throttled things down.

Lastly, I was impressed with the way they mitigated the Jets pass rush. Lots of quick hitters and stuff underneath that didn't require Dak to hold the ball long. There were a few times where the Jets brought effective blitzes but Dak always had a guy available to dump the pass off to.

Really the first game to see the McCarthy playbook open up some, the analysis this week will be interesting to read.

My initial impressions are:
  • wider variety of misdirection plays, not just exclusively TE rollout
  • putting more stress on defenses to defend the LOS on the sidelines, for better with the RB flat passes or for worse with WR screens historically rarely executed well in Dallas
  • much quicker 1-2 reads for Dak

I don't know what the Jets were thinking when they were coming out in 4-wide empty sets on 1st downs. IIRC, they were using that formation early in the 3rd qtr when it was still a two score game.

Hackett didn't do Wilson any favors with those formations.

But this is happens with literally EVERY QB in the game.

Every QB throws INTs. And every QB misses some passes.
He was fortunate that field goals were enough to put the Jets away. We'll always have that first drive. :rolleyes

Y’all need to stop this! I’m trying sooo hard to be level headed and not to homer TF out! :lol

I'm loving this team so far, but the thing keeping me from homering out is the knowledge that we won't truly know if this team is different until January. That's been the real hurdle the past couple decades. They've already won a bunch in the regular season before and it didn't translate in the playoffs.

Exactly. You can nitpick every play and decision to death but the totality of the performance is what really matters.

Every pitcher gives up runs. You don't want to, but it happens. You can still play well despite making a few mistakes.
