They always pull this shit. Either so and so was high up on their board (meaning they got a bargain) or other teams were after him, forcing them to act. No sale.
They conveniently leak it, but this may be legit as everyone was raving about how he was a first round pick.

I personally could never see how a guy who rarely played bigtime competition and was so raw on top of it all would be anything more than a late 3rd or 4th round pick.

I'm glad they went after a QB, but I'm not thrilled about the guy they got. All he's done is fail to make the second string in SF where the QB is dubious at best and oh yeah, get hurt. A lot.

Refresh my memory. Who’s been the most tenured backup Dak Prescott has had? Mark Sanchez?

Our QB room, with the best leader I ever saw with Dak Prescott,
@Troy

We hit this and figuratively didn’t even get them off the phone, because we wanted to get him in here

He might not be. But if you believe some folks, Shanahan’s kid did not do him many favors.
I haven’t read the whole thread, but I have many hardcore SF fan friends and this is the consensus of all of them. They claim Shanahan has no interest in developing young guys, he just wants a QB who will do everything he asks to the T and not deviate. Not ideal when the QB drafts a project QB. Plus as Simp or CRock mentioned before, Lance is very much a player who improvises quickly and apparently Shanahan doesn’t like that. Add in Purdy giving him more what he’s looking for while also winning some games and the end was near.
