2022 Season | Week 10 | Gameday Chatter Thread | Cowboys @ Packers | 11/13/2022

everyone go deep! :picard

Where’s the rub routes that ALL the other teams run to get their guys open?
I seriously don’t think I have ever been more down on this team in my life.
These losses are self inflicted- simple scheme can get guys open, even if they are subpar athletes.
Obviously the book is out on Bucky Beaver and Dak. Flood the zones, make Dak wait for the open WR (which normally doesn’t happen, Dak wants them WIDE open), and either get home for the sack or pressure him into a bad throw.

Definitely a bad play call.

Makes no sense to do that there but this is just one of many instances dating back to when Garrett was here where we're running longer routes when only short yardage is needed.

It makes no fucking sense.

By that same token, how many times did we see everybody run the same 5 yard hitch route turn around when we needed to convert?

The point is, you can point to a number of plays that we've been running going back to when Garrett was still the coach where the route concepts just don't make any sense at all.

Sadly, because we insist on keeping Kellen Moore around, those types of idiotic designs are still in our playbook.

No matter what happens at HC (retaining McCarthy, promoting Quinn, hiring Payton) I think Moore has to go. We need a completely fresh perspective on offense that has no ties whatsoever to Garrett.

I feel like Moore is out of answers unless the running game is working.
This offense is streaky, would be great to have an OC who is consistent.

I know I've posted it a hundred times, but Moore is really about Dak. He loves Kellen, and the Joneses didn't want him to be disrupted by having to learn a new system.

Here you have an offensive guy who has worked with Montana, Favre, and Rodgers and you insist he be hands off of the offense. It's totally insane. At best it's absurdly short term thinking in hopes you don't lose a half year with Dak adjusting, but so stupid in the longer term. Going through that would have been nothing but good for Dak's development, but they had to coddle him like they do all their stars and pets.

You know Jerry wants it to be "QB-friendly".

Enough dumbing it down, it is time McCarthy takes control of the offense.

I’d buy some of that, but McCarthy had the playsheet in his hand last night in the 4th qtr. Was he calling the plays?
Bottom line is I saw a lot of passes last night at the receivers feet and over their heads-that’s on Dak and I think it isn’t going to get any better.
We also have Jack and Shit at WR. Gallup clearly isn’t back, and CeeDee is not a disciplined route runner. We lack a legitimate speed WR who can pull the top off a defense, even if it’s just one time. No one respects our deep passing game, because there isn’t one.

Dak was awful last night.

He played much better in the 2nd half, but he did a lot of damage in the 1st because he struggled for the first 28 min of the game to complete even the simplest of passes.

And while CD needs to run better routes, those passes should have never been thrown. The play isn't there to be made so Dak shouldn't be going there anyway.

He just doesn't see the field very well and when you couple that with average at best accuracy, it makes it to where everything else needs to be great in order to compensate.

And when it's not great? You have performances like last night and the playoff loss to the 49ers where it becomes painfully obvious just how limited Dak Prescott is as a passer.

Micah was played almost exclusively as an LB instead of pass rushing.

Yeah, but that's not to blame for everything.

The pass rush as a whole was very disappointing and the run defense has gone from a weakness to a total disaster.

With just a decent run defense, we win that game last night.

I'm not too upset about the pass rush, the Packers barely threw the ball and when they did it was mostly 2nd/3rd and short. The only situation the pass rush failed to deliver in where they really should have was the 4th and 7, although at the time it seemed like Rodgers got it out quick, he wasn't just holding the ball for 4 seconds back there.

The run defense needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

Yep and had we gone through it in 2020 we'd be on the other side of it by now and have a whole new, better system.

Wasn't able to see the game, was on a plane. But looking at the stat sheet can someone explain to me what the coaches were thinking? In a game that both teams are averaging over 5ypc Dak throws it 46 times??? All world Rodgers just took 20 shots...

unfortunately.. this offense is too incompetent to run such plays .. they’d prob be flagged for illegal pick plays anyway .. it’s just sad…no he’d rather run those quick passes off the line that work soooo well… Moore fuckin sucks .. he’s the skid mark remnants of the shit we called Jason Garrett

The sole smoke route we ran with Gallup was of course stopped for no gain, and yet we persist.
We ran 1 other on the 2nd drive .. which Dak almost threw it away if not a good catch by Gallup … it went for 3 yards ..still nothing to write home about … I think a lot of it has to do with timing on the play call itself … Moore is running this against the wrong defensive looks and it’s resulting in minimal gains
