Norm Hitzges goes off on Jerry Jones

How can something be said hundreds of times by thousands of people?

#mindblown
I have have seen you criticize Jones more than a hundred times and I know thousands of others have done the same.

You agreed with me months ago that it was 75-25. Don't change your tune now.

And uh, stacked rosters do win in the NFL. The teams with the most talent tend to be the ones that make the playoffs year after year.

Sorry, I don't recall that particular discussion.

It certainly is not 75% talent/25% coaching.

I guess you will have to reformulate your argument.:art

God dammit!

I agree with Booze and Carp. As long as the fans keep coming through the turnstiles and are buying up Cowboy merchandise, Jerry could care less about the bad press.

I don't think he'd care even if they were halved. He has his stadium. GSM, Jerry.

You definitely did say that previously.

But regardless, the problem is more talent than coaching here. Very few coaches could win with Quincy Carter. Very few coaches could playcall with this OL.

~standard response~ But Smitty! Garrett doesn't value the OL! He is the one who wanted to sign Bernadeau and Livings!

Yeah. That's a talent problem, not a coaching one.

Garrett isn't blame free. If he has the clout that everyone wants to say he does, he certainly could have advocated another OL in 2 instead of a toy he won't know how to use in Escobar. Or even in 3 instead of another WR.

Didn't say he was blame free. Said it was 75/25 in terms of personnel versus coaching being the problem, and your argument that he should have exercised more clout to get more OLs in here is a personnel issue not a coaching one. If it's a Garrett failure it's a failure in his role as a personnel guy, not in terms of his coaching ability.

You simply can't separate the personnel aspect from the coaching aspect for a head coach in football. It's a core part of the job.

Not separating it out in terms of his overall evaluation.

Just saying, fix the OL and make it average, and about 75% of the offense's problems would go away. The plays that are called will work more often, there will be less situations where he is in a position where he is trying to outscheme his personnel weaknesses leading to less bad decisions overall, plus everyone on the field actually performs better because the OL effects the rest of the team that way.

He'll have the occasional head scratching call, the pass happiness will still be present, and probably some game mismanagement type stuff occasionally as well. But the offense will also be much more efficient, much more effective, and we'd almost certainly be a consistent playoff team.

Not everyone kisses his ass. Norm isn't saying anything that hasn't been said hundreds of times by thousands of people. Jones will still operate in the same manner because he thinks he is right

Allow me to reiterate: I like it better when people give him shit, regardless of the results.

What would be great is to have another reporter ask Jerry to respond to the criticism, you know, just to perpetuate
the pressure on the old f'er. Repeated hammering is what I want, because that appears to be the only thing Jerry understands.
He can't mumble and stammer and cliche his way out if they maintain the pressure. You want limelight Jerry, you got it.

And you'll never see it happen. These reporters know if they keep doing that, they'll be denied access. Shitty, yeah. But the reality of it.

Jerry boycotting the media?

Jerry boycotting the media?

Just because one person might not be given as much access as the others wouldn't exactly be boycotting the media, now would it? If some reporter was to piss off Jerry, they'd be taking the chance of not getting to sit down with him during his drunken infomercials.

Ya, God forbid anyone should lose access to the douchebag and miss out on all those great interviews. If I was a reporter, I wouldn't give a tin shit. I would stay on him until he was talking shit at me.

Ayuh. IIRC, didn't Jerry have to be talked into the Escobar pick?

It won't happen but I'd love for Jerry to be connected to a lie detector test and have to answer the following question.

Knowing that you won't get personal credit for the championship, would you willingly step aside as GM of the Cowboys if you were guaranteed a Super Bowl victory within 5 years of doing so?

It would make for great reality TV.
