Murray watch thread...

Oh, so you've never said people look for reasons to be upset, eh?

Ok. Sure.

Guess you've forgotten about all the times you've gone after guys like Iamtdg or Ace.
This is true. Thanks.

Someone this morning on ESPN or NFL Network made a good point that Murray will be going to a system that gets off plays in record time, just over 2 secs. Not sure DM will be the type of back to thrive in that system. Also several players like McCoy, etc complained about the practice schedule of Kelly, having to practice the day before games every week throughout the season.

It may work, but DM will have a lot of adjusting to do.

Wouldn't surprise me. Tag Dez and let Murray walk. Many won't see it as savy business decisions but something more nefarious.

If I am Dez though I take this as a compliment...they certainly committed to him over Murray.

Also...if he gets tagged again he will basically be guaranteed over 25 million for these 2 years.

Whatever, Frenchie.

It's not like the Cowboys are done with Dez.

You'd think JJT was family to these two with how personal he's taken their negotiations.

I do think he will get less work though. We used him almost exclusively last year...Kelly definitely wants to get Sproles some touches and seems to like Polk too. His workload should go down.

Gotta get Matthews out there too.

I agree with it. Just better hope Dez stays healthy and productive or we'll look like fools.

I know it is a business, but I don't think players respond well to a guy taking money and a job from someone. He is going just that to Mathews if that is the case.

For sure

What does Jerry have to do with anything? He's not pulling any strings.

I was in the camp that wouldn't have brought Murray back for anything more than a cheap deal, but I also thought we'd have gone after someone else we had in mind. I don't think Murray's as good as many do, but I also don't think we can throw just anyone back there and get good results.

Kind of worried that the front office believes what some fans (not here) seem to: That after one good year, we've got it all figured out and every move we make from now on is gold, so no need to re-sign proven players. That would be just as dumb as overpaying the Miles Austins of the world.

I would guess that Stephen has Jerry locked in a room somewhere and has commandeered his phone.

If that's true and we're offering 6 mill, then Murray can go fuck himself.

6 mill is more than fair and it was the max yearly salary that most of us wanted to give him.

Props to the team for standing firm.

Exactly. It's become more obvious the last few years that Stephen is taking a larger role. Unless after 20+ years Jerry finally changed the way he operates, I'd say real power in Big D is with Stephen, not Jerry.

For Jerry to give up control though...that is huge IMO.
