But acknowledging that doesn't sound as good as extreme statements like saying Linehan is "running a different system" or that Garrett isn't involved in the offense anymore. Or that all the positive changes have nothing to do with him.

It has everything to do with Garrett. He was forced to step aside.

Do we know that for sure? Was it an ultimatum? We're going to hire Linehan and if you don't like it you can leave! Doubt it highly. Garrett was obviously onboard with it. He deserves credit for stepping aside, seeing at this point of his career maybe he's a better manager of all things instead of focusing on calling the plays. You guys can discredit him all you want, but he deserves a ton of credit.

So in your mind what does Garrett do now as head coach? What are his responsibilities? Nothing? Because that must be what everyone thinks he does who give him no credit.

Deserves a shot, but will not get it. He is not as popular as Discount Double Check.
 
Linehan is a mentor of sorts to him. Don't understand how people ignore that dynamic.

I agree. It was one of the best decisions he made for his career. Good managers realize they need to rely on expertise of others. He did everyone a favor when he realized this toward his HC responsibilities. The learning curve improves for everyone when micromanagement is eliminated.

I don't think a guy who has been an offensive coordinator who continues to call plays when he becomes a head coach is a "micro manager". Then there are a ton of "micro managers" in the NFL.

Couldn't be more proud of these guys. I said many times before the season that the OL was good enough to get us to 10 or 11 wins if used properly, I just never really thought it would happen, especially with the team showing so much resiliency and fight along the way.

It's only a matter of time until this defense catches up with us but this season is a huge success either way. Rebuild the DL in the offseason, hopefully keep the coaching staff together and give it another go next year.

Same thoughts here. Romo has exceeded all expectations, supported by a dominant line that looks eerily good and reminiscent of the one that protected Aikman and opened holes for Emmitt. I have never been so happy to be so wrong about how I thought a season would unfold.

Also, the defense has seemed to play better as the season has gone on, but we do need talent on the line. Crawford looks great, but Lawrence was a no show yesterday. I probably missed it, but I would guess that lots of people have had to reconsider their original eval of the Hitchens pick. He has been a real find for us.
He consistently makes plays.


All in all, we seem to have moved through the December funk and be playing our best football at the right time.

Merry Christmas Dallas fans. It's our time.

I actually think there are just a ton of micro managers personally. To me the whole point of being an coordinator is to call plays. So when the head coach calls the plays instead of the coordinator I'd say that is micro managing. A head coach needs to be able to delegate which is what Garrett finally did this year and I think it has made all the difference. There is just so much going on during an NFL game, it's really tough for a head coach to be on top of everything while at the same time calling the plays.

Rodgers and that offense has really taken a slide the last few weeks. Not sure what the cause was but I like it.

I believe every anti-Garrett poster here (including myself) has given him credit for what you just in the past few weeks or months. I do think and I believe it was/has been reported that he was told to get an OC. Now I do think he had the choice as to who it was and kudos for that. I just cant give him "tons" of credit for the team doing things that he couldnt get them to do when he was running the show solo.
 
This playoff picture is about as good as one could hope for, IMO. AZ in the first round and then Detroit in round 2 would be the easiest path there is. Get by those two and you have a major fight on your hands with GB or Seattle, but getting to the NFCC game with this defense would still be a huge accomplishment.

That reads like the team was standing in defiance of their coordinator/head coach, but then got onboard when the coordinator role was removed.

Rodgers has been a bit gimpy, if we play them in freezing temperatures and he's not 100% we have a shot.

They've also had some uncharacteristic mistakes. Last week he threw a beautiful pass to Nelson who was all alone. Should have been a 90+ yard TD and it just bounced off his hands.

Yea, we'll see, we're hot right now and you never know what could happen. If I was forced to bet I'd pick Green Bay of course but if Romo can handle the weather and play well we would have a shot.
