FORT WORTH – Dallas Cowboys rookie defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence said Tuesday he feels “awesome.”

The second-round pick said he’ll return to the practice field Wednesday at Valley Ranch. Lawrence didn’t play Thursday at the Chicago Bears because he injured his ribs the week before in a Thanksgiving Day loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Lawrence was among a group of Cowboys players who made their annual holiday hospital visit to Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth.

“I’m looking forward to going back out and playing football [Wednesday], getting back on the field,” Lawrence said. “I’m really looking forward to the Eagles. It’s a big opportunity for us to capitalize on this playoff time. We just have to get back out there and be ready to go.”

Lawrence said he was glad to take some time away from football Tuesday to visit with several children in the hospital.

“It’s just a surreal opportunity to be here,” Lawrence said. “It’s a great opportunity to put perspective on life to let us know how much these kids look up to us.

“Life is so precious to us, coming to see these kids just shows us how we can take life for granted sometimes. Just coming to see these kids makes you see how great life is and any day can be taken from us, so I just want to come out here and give some time to the kids to show them how much I really appreciate them and their support.”

Well, I guess it's nice that someone is looking forward to this game.

Even if it's been someone who's predictably been completely ineffective and yet somehow gets the benefit of the doubt because he's supposedly a pass rusher.

It's not like Dallas has a plethora of pass rushers. He will be needed.

It's not good that our best chance is a desperate draft reach for something that just wasn't there. Hopefully he isn't this decade's Kavika Pittman, but it's looking more and more like that.

Hopefully Lawrence will be as good as Crawford after a lousy rookie year and an injury wiped second year.

The guy has made some plays when he has played. Had a really nice tackle for loss. I know it's not a sack but when you cause a RB to lose 4 yards on a play it really isn't much different then a sack.

He hasn't even played a whole game yet. Too soon to make that kind of evaluation.

He has a rep to upkeep.

Just say Kony Ealy and move on.:lol

Jiggy I don't need to say any more than I have said. He has been a big disappointment. If you have something to say about Kony Ealy then say it.

I was refering to Ravi and his love of Ealy I was on your side, but whatever.

By reading the post.:shrug

There was nothing in there that should have been taken as a slight at you.

I didn't take it as a slight. I simply didn't know what you meant by your Kony Ealy reference and asked for a clarification.
